“Top Gun pilot comes calling as US Pacific Fleet chief”
Posted: Jan 28, 2009 at 0029 hrs IST

New Delhi: Admiral Robert Willard has the world’s largest naval fleet at his disposal. He commands the US Pacific Fleet with over 180 ships and 1,500 aircraft. But in his office at Pearl Harbour, a small black fighter pilot’s helmet enclosed in a glass cage is his real claim to fame.
The top US officer, who is in India for the Republic Day functions, is the elusive ‘MiG 28’ enemy pilot who engages Tom Cruise in the opening shot of the epic Top Gun movie.

Which reminds me: ISTR the USAF F-15 also had an air-launched cruise missile called Pegasus?
For comparison, I’ve seen two archives, albeit in Japanese.

To KJlost:
As I said before, I’m curious about South Korean military aviation accidents, if only for comparison with those in Commie China, Japan, and Taiwan, which I’ve been researching.
Do you happen to know any site *in English* that (ideally) has lists of South Korean military aviation accidents?

“China eyes South African weaponry”
Published: January 07, 2009

Column: Military Might
Hong Kong, China — China has had a number of dealings with South African weapons manufacturers over the past decade, most of which have not resulted in actual weapons purchases. However, several recent China-made military technologies bear suspicious resemblances to their South African counterparts.
