And will TFC add the wingtips?
Last i heard regarding the Fury was that Dave Lees is doing it on his own and that it is going to be completely stock. While in Stephens ownership it will be having a Centaurus. I also asked about the colour of the engine bay and was told that is what zinc chromate would have looked like in it’s operational era. 1st time i’ve ever seen that colour and i thought it was weird.

Exactly right Damien. The reason i asked the question in the 1st place was i asked Rob Davies on sunday where Janie was and i got a look of shock in return, which i took to be that it had crashed and i shouldn’t be asking him that. I thought Yak 11 Fan would be the best person to answer it as he seems to know more regarding Janie than anyone.

Duxford, September 1982. Heard on the wireless on the way that Douglas Bader had died so we thought it might be cancelled. On arrival it wasn’t cancelled but might as well have been as it pissed down all day. That was when you could fit an entire airshow crowd under the wings of the Vulcan. If memory serves me right it was supposed to be the 1st airshow that the former ‘Black Knight’ T-33 was to display in the new hands of Bob Thompson and re-registered G-JETT. I think the Harrier GR3 was the only thing that flew that day.

Twilight Tear was apparently test flown by Steve Hinton at about 3pm. TFC do not have a photo of the nose art and are going to generalize it in style and colours as other 78FG nose arts until someone produces a photo of the original. The original pilot of Twilight Tear passed away many years ago but his 2 children are going to be at DX at the weekend to see their fathers P-51 fly from it’s original base.

    Bo Selecta!

When i asked John about the colour scheme at North Weald a while back he told me that the main colour scheme was that of an aerobatic team from Australia. He then had the national markings of the other main countries to operate the Sea Fury added to pay tribute to those countries.

It was actually chosen by John. It was in white primer when he bought her. He wanted a scheme based on the austrailian aerobatic team but also wanted to honour the main users of the Sea Fury, hence the different national markings. I quite like it as it is colourful but i would prfer to see one in the old G-FURY colours with the smoke generators on the wingtips.
