Well, on getting home I see I have forgotten a few – the 2 Chippies, the S6, the Seafire, the F7/30….

And sorry about the teddy piloting the Tiger….a small price to pay though ๐Ÿ™‚

    Enjoy.

Does the teddy come in the same category as ‘Harold the Helicopter’? :diablo:

2300 and it’s past the ยฃ6.5m mark ๐Ÿ˜ฎ . Hmm, think I’ll join in and push it up a bit further…..fancy giving it a coat of Halfords Appliance White and sticking it on a pole at the end of the drive! :diablo:

    Hi Albert,

Love it love it love it,

However, I bow to the major concensus and will leave it yellow. Lots of work being done over the Winter to make it look even more gorgeous!

We will be doing the N3788 reg correction, ie the reg of the 1938 fuselage used in a 50’s rebuild. It also legitimises the current scheme. V1075, as a late ( 6th from last off the line) production machine, would have been in yellow/ camo and bare legs.

    VBR

    HP

I agree with changing the serial, as the fuselage is the heart of the aircraft. However, as much as I love your gorgeous yellow scheme, there are TWO flying in exactly the same scheme and it’s not until I can read the serial that I know whether it’s G-AKAT or your G-AKPF. Would be nice to have a bit of variety, but I won’t be disappointed if you leave it yellow! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I must only point you to the film Sirens for another point towards Tara ๐Ÿ˜‰

(and no, I don’t mean that kind of point! :D)

With Tara, I can’t see the point :diablo:

Re your Maggie at Old Warden, if you are still considering repainting in the CFS aerobatic team scheme, there is a photo and letter about it in the new Aeroplane Monthly.

I’m not one for reading the tabloids but it was pointed out to me that there was a small article in the Sun newspaper about this Vulcan today. Judging by the amount of hits and the ยฃ15000+ bid it now stands at she’s certainly getting some positive press, makes a change eh? I hope these people know exactly what theyโ€™re bidding on. I bet the current owner thinks all his Christmases are coming at once :p

On the subject of selling something like this, are there restrictions and set procedures that have to be followed? Obviously not for this particular aircraft, but a Vulcan is a bomber that can carry nuclear weapons etc, and what would happen if it fell into the wrong hands? Do they ensure that it can’t ever take to the skies again?

    Regards,

    James

I don’t think there is much fear of that! Anyone that had such concerns would be quite satisfied of that with just one viewing! If they still can’t get XH558 in the air, which is perfectly serviceable, there’s certainly NO chance of XL391 ever flying again!

Of course on a serious note, it’s inevitable that this is what happens to large aircraft left outside for several years, particularly in bad weather. Now if they can’t look after the Vulcan, think about the Concorde at East Fortune and, even worse, the one on the barge in New York harbour, which will go exactly the same way!!
