RNZAF Sunderlands
Just to make this thread complete, I thought you might like to see a rare colour slide in my collection of the last two operational Sunderlands in service with the RNZAF at Fiji in 1962.
MEA HISTORY
There are two early types that you have missed from the 1950s:
The Douglas DC-3 and the Avro York.
Here is a rare photo of the York,as MEA acquired it in June 1957, but it was lost just over a year later when it crashed in the Mediterranean Sea en-route Beirut-Rome on 29 September 1958.
Great to see a Spitfire restored in something other than WW2 camouflage. The Spitfire’s history extends beyond WW2 and it’s good to see this recognised. Would be nice to see MH434 return to its blue/white/silver scheme as G-ASJV again:rolleyes:

oh no Albert, we don’t want this rabble over at the corgi forum!
:p :p :p !!they’ll all be asking for models of Sea-Vixens, DC-7’s and the like!!
:D:p
….anything to keep the peace!! As long as they don’t join the petition for a Valiant, I don’t mind;)
Well done! These are the first decent shots I’ve seen of the Bev taken recently. Shame the colour scheme is only half accurate and hope they repaint her correctly in GLOSS camouflage with gloss black undersides(not camouflaged:mad: ). Actually, for real purists of course XB259 was NEVER in this scheme and should really be put back into RAE colours!
Corgi Models Forum
There is a forum entirely devoted to these. Please have a look at:

     😉

Going back longer than I care to remember, the brilliant 50 Years of Military Flying show at Upavon in June 1962 had a great airfield attack sequence. The attackers were West Raynham wing Hunters (1 and 54 Squadrons), which used the natural arena at Upavon to greatf effect. “Friendly troops” arrived in Beverleys and Twin Pioneers, vehicles slung under Belvederes, while FAC-type work (although it wasn’t called that then, came courtesy of Whirlwinds.
I was just about to mention that myself, as I was there also! Fantastic display and first public showing of the Hawker P.1127 prototype. 😉
BEA S-61Ns
Nice ones! Is anyone old enough to have colour photos of the BEA S-61Ns on the Lands End-Scilly Islands service in their original BEA red square livery?
Emerald ATP livery
Oh no, not yet another boring all-white livery:mad: ?? How unimaginative, bring back cheatline??

Albert, you seem to have got the impression that I’m some sort of wind-up merchant. It’d be pretty bad form if I put a spoof photo in two meeting reports in a row.Rob
…worth a try though;) How about a Valiant being unloaded from a lorry for example?

….but no more radio-controlled plane photos trying to pass them off as real!!!;)

Any name with ‘cat’ is not allowed: that’s Grumman’s only, and the F-35 is not a Grumman plane.Unfortunately, if the sanctity of the Grumman nomenclature is maintained, we’ll never see another cat, because Grumman doesn’t exist anymore. Unless Northrop Grumman builds a UCAV or something.
…okay, who built the Jaguar then?:o
Flying Legends improvements
I think everyone has just about covered everything here, so all we have to hope is that Stephen Grey and TFC read and digest it all. Suppose I had just better underline a few things:
1) Less music and commentary during the flypasts – I gave up shooting video at Duxford because of this.
2) More ‘quality’ stuff we haven’t seen before, as there are plenty of ‘legends’ in Europe that haven’t yet attended. Bring on the Dutch Connie and all the other stuff that others have requested!!!
3) Set pieces with pyros if possible.
4) Space out the Flightline Walk aircraft(they are packed far too close together!) so they are easier to photograph and bring them closer so you still don’t have to use a telephoto lens!!!
What’s the point of making an additional charge to do this if you can get the same shots from the main barrier? Bring outside some of the non-airworthy warbirds and add them to the end of the line. This has been done before(Lysander, B-17 Mary Alice etc) so don’t stop doing this.
Open the Flightline Walk again AFTER the show is over, as the sun is in a much better position for photography late afternoon.

Looks like you made light work of that!!!;)
Flying Legends
Would be nice to see some stuff that never gets there, but could!
Like Catalina from North Weald, Dutch Connie, Red Bull B-25 and DC-6 from Austria, Jet Provost T.1 from Cranfield etc…all the stuff we never see!
