Just poor spelling but I shouldn’t have used the term article because that term refers to factual writing which I doubt this is. But in any case she is skilled at artifice thats for sure.
As for paranoia, I suppose the absurd statements and laughable theories expressed here by you and others are somewhat delusional.

You have to give this woman credit for the number of negative images she was able to fit into this short piece of fiction. She must have received top marks in her creative writing class. The parts about the porn star, the glass wall, the TV on the shopping chanel” all night long”, the rubbers gloves, the Austrian govenor, the Nazi reference, the phone call from hubby, her American child, etc, etc. It gets better the more you read over it.
Given the source of this artical and the fact that it was published on the 5th of June makes me wonder if it wasn’t meant to detract from the fact that today is the 60th aniversary of the D-day landing during which the Americans played such a key role.
Perhaps many Europeans are still ashamed of the atrocities they commited and are resentfull that they had to rely on America to resue them and protect them during the cold war that followed.
Perhaps lame stories such as this one are necessary to conger up enough anti-American resentment to mollify such feelings.

Maybe she was just anoyed she couldn’t get laid on the flight over and made up this pile of crap.
Is she a writer of fiction?
At the 1988 London Ontario Air Show the theme was the 30th year of the Phantom. There were reps from the USAF, USMC, USN, RAF, and the German AF. One of the best shows I have ever seen. 28 F-4’s actually made it to the 2-day show out of the 30 that were booked. Unfortunately I took no pictures at the time.
Always fun to watch and certainly a more interesting design than the Russian types of the same period.

OK so Warpac won the imaginary war but NATO (ie the USA) won the real war.

Not hunting but for aircraft, astronomy and occasional birding in the back yard.
Yes the 11X80’s are very nice. If I had only one choice I would pick them over the rest simply because they are good at everything I am interested in looking at. While a little heavy for some things a good tripod like a Manfotto usually solves that problem. I have never looked at the 20X60’s but I imagine they would be very good for airshows.
Regardless of the type and size at hand, looking at the night sky with a pair of binos is a relaxing and mellowing experience after a hard day of arguing war and politics. 🙂

Is the possibility that the Jews in Iraq were treated in the same as the rest of the population in Saddam’s Iraq a good thing?

IMHO the 10X50’s are about perfect for general use including airshows. For value it’s hard to beat the B & L Legacys as Flood has already pointed out – 5mm exit pupil, BK4 prisms, tripod socket, reasonable field of view and about 2lbs. Good for the night sky as well. 🙂 There are many other good choices of course.
I currently have 7X35’s, 7X50’s, 10X50’s, 11X80’s, 20X100’s and am looking for 25×100’s. I dream about a pair of 25X150’s.

When it comes to gas chambers the Germans simply outclassed the U.S. You could fit the whole family plus Grandma and most of the neighbourhood in the German version.

Sorry Garry I didn’t take Arthur’s subtlety into account.

I see you have sobered up. Hope your head feels OK. I had a few myself yesterday.
It’s difficult to argue past your point about “retoric” and spurious comparisons. However, Israel exists primarily because of the WW11 and the exodus to Palestine was the consequence. That is the plain fact. Why stay where 6 million had just been murdered? Better to risk the uncertaincy of going to Palestine than to stay in the post-war turmoil of Europe. Should they have stayed to help absolve European guilt? To simplfy things and make it less ackward for Britain and France in the M-E? I doubt if many Jews at that time gave much thought to the consequenses of their actions with respect to the Palestinian population.
I also believe that absolving Arafat of any blame for the actions of the terrorists operating out of Palestine, is questionable. I have often heard it said that he is the democratically elected leader of the Palistinians. If that is so he shares the blame. And what about the responsibility of the surrounding Arab governments. Most openly encourage and finance terrorist activity against Israel. This is not the action of individuals.
I have strayed off-topic a bit. I do wonder, however, how differently the Israel-Palestinian situation might have evolved if Europe had stayed engaged in the area instead of running away from it’s historic responsibilities in the 40’s. Unfortunately the “collective guilt” for what happened to the Jews in Europe that you you speak of, nor the specific responsibility for the Palestinians and the Arabs in general was not strong enough. Instead the job gradually fell to the U.S.

I just can’t agree that the fact that while Israel was founded by and is the principle home of the Jews, that fact has nothing to do with the current Israel-Palestinian issue. It may not be an issue with Europeans, but it sure appears to be a major issue with the Arabs who voice official hatred against the Jews on a daily basis.
Well-founded criticism of Israel is fair but do European leaders regularly condemn Palestinian crimes against Israel such as the one refered to below?

Yes Arthur, bring up more claims of torture. If such acts were commited and the pictures are out there why has it been necessary to resort to publishing fakes?
