Given your remark about carrier sortie rates during the Gulf War perhaps you would be interested in the GAO report on carrier operations.

You guys remember the GAO don’t you? – at least all you Super Hornet slaggers do I am sure. These pencil necks are the fountain of all wisdom about all things concerning US military issues.

Anyway, you can read it for yourselves.

Good point about France. I was also thinking about that very issue.

France is often very ackward to deal with. Even when it has to go begging as it did during WWII, the free French leaders couldn’t put their differences and personnal pride away and act together even in defeat. Then they spent years sulking outside of NATO because as a second rate power they couldn’t be the big cheese.

Now, it and Germany and their Belgian handmaid are putting their internal politics ahead of the interests of another NATO member who is simply asking for a little moral support. Mighty big of them but at least the Turks know where they stand.

Not content with just using the UN to signal their support for SH, they are now using their NATO membership to re-inforce that signal.

When you look at the way France generally behaves, it isn’t surprising that the most reluctant member of NATO is now front and centre in destroying it. Quite in characture. Looking at the bright side, NATO is obsolete anyway. Let Europe deal with the French via the EU.

Belgium is famous for that breed of large, strong and handsome draft horse known world wide as the ‘Belgian’. There is also the ‘Belgian hare’. It is obvious which one the current Belgian government most resembles. Then maybe it is just behaving like a horses ass. 🙂

I agree with you totally about NATO. The US dosn’t need the trouble.

As far as the UN goes, it should simply relocate to the bureaucratic centre of the world … ie Brussels. where the lines of communication to Bonn, Paris and Moscow are shorter.

RE: Nothing justifies deliberate & wanton killing of civilians

Just a note to those who might be interested in Canadian justice.

This ##### was given double credit for 5 of the years he was held in custody before he was proven guilty. As a result, he will serve only 5 more years instead of 10.

Apparently this makes perfect sense to the Canadian justice system, that time served before you are actually found guilty is more stressful than if you were actually found guilty straight away. Sort of a perverted bonus award.

To make matters worse, he will be given credit for the full 10 years in calculating the amount of time that he must serve before being eligible for parole (one third). He will be eligible in about a year is my understanding.

All this must be great comfort to the relatives of the 329 people murdered on the 747, not to mention the two poor guys in Japan who were also killed buy the other bomb. This will mean approx. 22 days per victim even if he doesn’t make parole. Off course most of them were not ‘real’ Canadians – they were just immigrants.

Makes me proud to be a Canadian.

    Project “mirage”?

Sounds like an appropriate name for a French solution to a situation that might involve the military to me. 🙂

RE: war in Irak and the Franco/German resistance

Well if it was shown on TV it must be true.

Anyway, what did Israel have to worry about? …after all it was only surrounded by a dozen countries who wished to kill it’s entire population which was outnumbered 100 to 1. Nothing to worry about.

Ah it’s those evil Americans again, exploiting the worst aspects of European differences, ethnic hatreds and nationalisic tendancies so that it can continue to drain Europe, encourage division and enhance internal strife and sell arms.

Your reference to the US and WWI and WWII was clearly intended to mean that the US should have joined sooner to help defend Europe from Germany but hung back.. Now of course, it’s the US that is rushing to war.

When you need help, the US is late comming to your aid and when it does, you downplay the effort. When all the US wants is a show of public solidarity over the Iraq issue; when its critical to show a united front to SH; at the very time when even Arab nations are sending clear signals to SH…what does France, Germany and their Belgian handmaiden do?… why, they leap on their moralistic highhorse and give SH just the kind of support he needs to believe he can stonewall the UN again. Brilliant timing! A nice diplomatic touch!

Nice of you to remind us all (once more) of how badly you were used by the US in WWI, WWII, and during the cold war. It always make me laugh when I see a cheap attempt by those who caused the problems in the first place, to try and shift the issue away from their own behavour by attacking others.

Geforce, you were the very one who once stated on this forum that the US should not expect current Europeans to be eternally grateful for deeds rendured by previous generations of Americans (not to mention other nations). You used the term ‘grandfathers’ as I recall. Odd that now, when it suits you, you have no problem referring to those events to justify the current policies of Belgium in its role of ‘handmaiden’ to France and Germany.
