I saw. Makes no sense to me. Vulcan, nimrod, Shackleton together seems sensible to me
Then there’d be 4 Meteors (+ nose), 3 Canberras (+ nose), quite a few Vampires (plus the Venoms), several Dove/Devons, two Prentices, etc, etc.
Sorry, couldn’t resist winding up Sadsack’s fairy godmother,
Roger Smith.
Twelve minutes did it for me. I have left the recorder running but I have some doubts whether I shall ever bother to watch any more.
Moggy
Yep, the same here – although I stuck it out just over half-way.
I’m the ‘hopeless romantic’ (:D ) tell me, someone, did the brave American fighter jock get his Italian Signorita??
Roger Smith.
Just guessing – it looks a bit Morane-Saulnier or, perhaps, Potez?
have you tried enlarging the badge on the fin? and is the something like a badge on the forward fuselage?
Roger Smith.
Thanks for the responses and photos folks.
So it seems one Lincoln (RF398 now at RAFM, Cosford) went to storage for RAFM at RAF Henlow instead of two going to Hullavington.

I wonder if they are interested in the WW1 Bessoneau hangar, most of which survives in Coventry.
Roger Smith.
Thought this might interest Whirlwind fans especially – http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-31904946
Might I suggest this is given a thread of it’s own to make available to a wider audience (yes, those naughty people that didn’t want to read the Whirlwind Project newsletter 😀 )

An amusing little series recently on Channel 4 (or 5??) called “Auction House” filmed at Lot’s Road Auctions in Chelsea. Twice there were glimpses of “an aircraft wing” being carried in but no film of it being sold.
Highly polished it could have been a DH Dove tailplane/elevator and is by now, presumably, hanging on the wall of some Chelsea mansion.
There was also a scale model of Alex Henshaw’s Mew Gull apparently for sale.

Is it just coincidence this appears as Tu-95s are being seen close to British airspace again? Perhaps more will appear cunningly disguised as ‘works of art’ 😉
Roger Smith.
Humber Ltd. of Coventry built BR.1 and BR.2 engines – in fact the BR.2 in the RAFM Snipe has a Humber plate on it.
Roger Smith.
Thanks ErrolC (and Stan Smith for the humour) a reproduction, running BR.2 will look the same as a real one and, presumably, will sound the same.
I am in awe of what has gone on in New Zealand and am hoping to get the book to ‘read all abaaht it’ before too long.
Never have so few brought so much pleasure to so many in such a short time.
Roger Smith.
Can’t wait to see the Snipe in the air :D.
Bob T.
Especially if it has got a Bentley BR.2 hauling it along – anybody know what engine it has?
Roger Smith.
Did the RAF do much (with their bombing force) to disrupt Luftwaffe bombers by attacking the fields they operated from?
Roger Smith.
Strong sense of deja vu here.
Didn’t a new forum member ask here (early last year??) people’s opinions as to whether a new/recreated Wellington could be built and, while the thread ran, was fixing up meetings with interested parties. I’m sure I remember he was going to see the good folks at Brooklands.

Could that second numeral be a “7” rather than a “1” – did 7s have a vertical section at the bottom at that time?
It’s just that the space between what might be a “1” and the “9” seems greater than the space between the “9” and the “6”.

An Armstrong Siddeley Jaguar with an Armstrong Whitworth Siskin bolted to it OR….
being greedy 3 AS Jaguars and an AW Argosy. 😉
