A great way to start the season today at Old Warden!
Good to see some familiar faces from my last visit – nice to chat with you all, in between taking some 800 pictures!
800 pictures – cripes thats about 22 films!! 😀
Nice shots.

I was over at the market and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle.
A little suprised there appeared to be nobody at the market with a bucket collecting coins or giving out leaflets – there were a lot of people watching what was going on.

[QUOTE=DamienB] might be worth enquiring with the Cathedral first QUOTE]
Damien, thanks, tried that once last year but the gent I spoke to never got back to me. Will try again.

Thanks to everyone for their input.
I think the Hunter option is more than she wanted to pay.
Am passing on all the info to friend’s wife – will post here what the result was (after his birthday).

Thanks Roger and the rest for the info. I’m headed to Vegas in the middle of next month. Getting on the base as a serving Canadian Military member should be pretty straight forward. I’ll post pics.
Thanks sincerely Gerry

Does anyone know if there’s an aviation museum in or around Las Vegas. I assume Nellis has some sort of historical setup on the base but I was wondering if there might be something else.
Thanks sincerely Gerry
I don’t have Bob Ogden’s book covering the Western states but from Michael Blaugher’s book these are the entries for Las Vegas
CAF Nevada wing: A-26
Lost Birds: Convair 880 and several other jet airliners
Near Scenic Airways: Ford 5AT, C-124
Military Heritage Command: P2V-7
Nellis AFB: F-86, F-100, F-105G, F-117A, F-4C, F-5E
and at Indian Springs (just north of LV) there is an F-84F in the city park
I think some of the info in Blaugher’s book can be out of date. I went looking for at an F-86 in a town in Missouri 2 1/2 years ago and it had been removed from the town quite a few years before.

Some of us of a certain age remember the Airfix kit of the Auster Antartica on floats. It was easy to paint all yellow (or was it moulded in yellow plastic?) then slap on the transfers – hey presto!

So, working at Duxford for two weeks eh? – how many tea breaks????
Can just hear ‘is boss talking
“took this lad on for work experience, little b**ger kept disappearing with a camera in is ‘and”
Wot me jealous? – naaah

The fuselage is A model but the wings are ‘hard’ (no slats) examples from a late F86E,the ‘6-3’ wing.
But the leading edges are completely straight from root to tip – no sign of the 6″ and 3″ extensions – does that narrow down the options, or add to the confusion?
Roger Smith.
Sorry to Damien B – he spotted it, I didn’t spot his posting

That’s the baby!! I’ve since found out that the original aircraft crashed – sabotage or air to air missile maybe??
You mean someone smacked it in the gob!

Is the Bucc in the last picture missing some very important parts of it’s body, or is it just superb piece of camo? 😉 😀 😀
They got that “grass green” shade just right
