I may be there tomorrow with Classic Flight’s Rapide.
I understand “technical gremlins” may mean John Hoole won’t be able to run his Leonides.

Curious.
Just a guess – could it be anything to do with parachuting out of the aircraft?? Although this would be counter-productive if the cabin door was left on!
Have never noticed before the way the lower wing steps down outboard of the engines.

looks like it might have had the blades chopped off and glued back on?
The lines around the prop that might give that impression could be where the original fabric covering ended?

and don’t forget the cold!!!
If you ‘work’ in an air museum that doesn’t have heating (let’s face it mostly only the nationals do have heating) and you are open all year round it can be bl**dy cold. Too much cold = misery.

Dunlop who make aircraft tyres are totally seperate nowadays from the Dunlop who made (and still do) aircraft wheels, brakes, controls, etc.
The latter is now part of Meggitt Aerospace Ltd. and still operate from part of the (once massive) Dunlop factory in Holbrooks, Coventry. If you’re going to write – Meggitt Aerospace, Holbrook Lane, Coventry should get there – or do a quick search on the net.
Dunlop aircraft tyres are still produced at a part of Fort Dunlop in north Birmingham.

not 29 but 30???
Don’t know if the Turbulent on display at MAM, Coventry is included in the list of 29 built by Rollasons but it was built by the company. It has a three-piece wing – the outer panels are detachable – and is a non-flyer. It is believed it was used by the company for promotional purposes and was trailered to events.
Anyone got a picture of it on show at a flying display or event?

Are they employing people from far flung Klingon colonies to write this stuff?
Coventry is a VERY cosmopolitan city !!

A work task this pm saw me short-cutting through Hangar 7 and so I looked at the tail of the aircraft in question.
I can’t, for definite, answer the question as to whether the two rudder sections can be set at an angle to each other but can say the two sections on T.7 G-BWMF are perfectly aligned.
The NF.12 G-LOSM was a few yards away so I had a look at her tail feathers too. Not nearly so elegant but top and bottom sections are, again, perfectly aligned.

Me too – Pattern emerging?
Yep, and me.

…….. There’s probably no-one left in the world who would/could o/haul them or have the tooling to do so………Anon.
RRHT, Coventry Branch are a very active bunch.

…funnily enough, quite a few of Mosquito components were made in Brumagem. U/C oleos and cockpit canopies for starters. Then there was Dunlop, wheels, tyres and brakes, possibly controls too….probably a quite a list in toto.
Snoopy, I think Dunlop only made aircraft tyres in Brum – their Aviation Division was (and still is under current owner’s name of Meggitt) in Coventry. Not far from Brum but quite different (superior !!) 🙂
Roger Smith.
PS Standard Motors of Coventry also built over 1000 complete Mosquitoes

Welcome to the forum Alisdair – keep posting – I’ll never get bored (but I would say that being a sometime volunteer there!).
Wyvernfan – I think the photos may have been taken a while ago.
