You know what they say about sarcasm…. 🙂

I’m sure cancellation is not a decision the collection will have taken lightly.

In the mid-1960s I was an apprentice at Dunlop and an article that appeared in the “Dunlop Digest” took my interest somewhat.

One or more Dunlop service engineers working in Lebanon came across three(I think) SM.79s. The end result (with Dunlop playing a part) was one of the aircraft returning to Italy and it now resides in the Italian air Force Museum at Vigna di Valle (along with an SM.82). After 40 years I had the pleasure of actually seeing it at Vigna di Valle.

Bob Ogden’s book gives it’s Lebanese identity as L-112. I Don’t know if the other two survived.

Have you tried Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust at R-R, Derby?

As has been alluded to beware of visitor’s fingers and provide clear plastic sheet guards otherwise HSE might not be too happy.

That picture, fantastic as it is, is surely shown upside-down. The person standing/sitting in the aeroplane (and therefore the camera they were holding) was upside-down – the land should be at the top and the sky at the bottom ! 😀

The Howard 500 re-appeared at Coventry today. Not sure where it came from or whether it might have routed over Lincolnshire.

Classic Flight’s Rapide ‘GTM took off from Coventry for Halfpenny Green at 10am but low cloud about half way meant a turn around and return to base.

    Maybe tomorrow???

Did John Hoole run his Leonides?
