ill give you a chance to explain this blashphemy before we kick you off πŸ˜€ haha, what dont you like about it? πŸ™‚

    – i just thought i would sneak back in to answer you!!- Its a looker, i must admit, but lets start with the engines, you get a fire in the lower one, and you would VERY likely get a fire in the upper one, too- thats not good!!- and the wing!!!- why didn’t they mount it lower???- that way you could carry stores under the wing!!!- and as was mentioned, its endurance was laughable- and to top it off, it had a worse safety record than the F-104!!- thats why they’re not allowed to fly them here!!

in the first place you’d never get a picture of an SR-71 from a Canberra camera(!) because of the difference in speed, and for another thing, i’ve never seen a Canberra crew in full pressure suits (which is what they would need for that sort of flight)

It certainly will!! It will, for example, mean that the Flug Werke FW-190 will get a permit to fly in the UK based on itΒ΄s German permit. The guys at Duxford knew this was comming when they registered the FW-190:)

Sorry to bring this up again, just wanted to make sure it wasn’t an early April Fools joke!- can anyone confirm that there is now no reason why the Flug Werk FW-190 cannot now fly in the UK??

He did say ‘within reason’ at the start of the thread! Still, it’s nice to dream:)

If you’re looking at the projects that might just come to fruition given favouirable circumstances, then my vote would be Mosquito. There again, we all know the Vulcan’s not home and dry yet…

That list is quite reasonable-if you’re Bill Gates!

It would have been a greater waste if it had flown & crashed, still IT is one fantastic model- I just wish it was in our museum.

Anyone know who’s got it though?

Wasn’t thinking about it flying, but running up etc would’ve been good!

What a waste!- all the hours that went into getting it to actually work only to have it on static display
