Didn’t the early marks of Beaufighter have Merlins?- i’m under the impression that 3 bladed props for them are really scarce anyway but i think it would be easier to get spares.

Don’t know who he is, but he’s obviously realised the way to acquire a small fortune is to start with a large one and put your money into Warbirds!:D

I did see on the web a while ago of a German group who were about to set out to try to recover the other aircraft on the ‘Bolero’ mission

Weeks seems a bit odd to me- HUGE potential for a regular warbird airshow in the manner of the Shuttleworth Coillection- but it seems that he doesn’t trust anyone else to fly his collection!

Tu-160 is primarily a stand-off ALCM carrier, not a free-fall bomber. The camo it wear has no bearing on its performace or survivability. They can paint in “Khohloma” and it wouldnt diminish Blackjack’s effectiveness.

Your aesthetic dislike of the camo is irrelevant, and frankly, boring.

and your Irrelevent criticism is boring too

If you were familiar with Strategic aviation in Russia and the Soviet Union you would know that they rarely if ever actually use grey paint.

Painting nuclear armed bombers white is actually rather common internationally… except in the US where they paint them black because black paint makes them stealthy… :diablo:

I have to admit, i’m not THAT familiar with Russian aviation, but familar enough to have noticed an AWFUL lot of gray Russian bombers- or are you the type of person who argues with everybody???

I’ve heard it’s either going to be another A-1 or possibly even 2-8-2 ‘**** of the North’, it could even be 2 of these monsters, unlikely though.
Plenty of A4’s about, to see 3 in action together for the first time since 1966, go to the North Yorks Moors railway, end of March, beginning of April, they have a nice long train of LNER teak coaches too.
To see 4 A4’s together, including Mallard, go to the Fest at York NRM at the end of May, beginning of June, you will also see Tornado and A2 Blue Peter, unfortunately Flying Scotsman is in bits so there won’t be an opportunity to see all the major ECML pacifics in steam together for the first time in over 40 years.
To keep this on an aviation footing, a GWR 0-6-0 Pannier tank will be running a steam special from Tyseley, via Birmingham to the Cosford Airshow on June 1st, the last time they’ll use Dakotas, but using even older steam locos, and probably more temperamental too, on the national network doesn’t seem to be a problem with the powers that be. The thought of using BoB Pacifics on specials to Legends sounds a good idea to me, could be well patronised, theres no steam ban on the line from Liverpool Street.

Silly editing again, for **** read C@ck, thats the nearest I can get.

Thanks SO much for the info Pete, Going to have to be in York at the end of may then!
