Hah! I know “greedy bankers” ( yes that boring old cliche) get blamed for most things but they can’t take the blaim for disastrous fiscal and economic policies.

It doesn’t help when the bankers wreck the banking industry!
And I think you’ll find that the Labour party were responsible for the longest period of economic growth since records began before the bankers discovered that greed isn’t always good!

So, it was the Labour party that left the country in such a mess and it was nothing at all to with the greedy bankers on the fiddle for even more money than they get already?? Well you learn something every day!

    Northolt Spitfire Gathering 2015

I noticed on another site that a display is being planned at Northolt for next September gathering together as many airworthy Spitfires as possible to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the battle of Britain! Thought the news might appeal to some!

The first one is a steam separator fitted to the cylinder block.
We would be interested in acquiring two if these for our ‘109 project.
No, I don’t know the proper name for it!

    Pete

    Er…what “109 project”???

That is in fact a very good question!

Initially, for phase 1 (the costed, planned part of the project which we are undertaking right now), we are not putting anything in there except a bit of ballast. If there are funds left over I would be tempted to propose to the group that we mock up something to make the ballast resemble Peregrines, but that’s all.

The airframe is being built with a view to a phase 2 – making the aircraft ‘live’, with working ‘plumbing’, electrics etc. This will probably include some kind of engines, though our options are completely open here, and much will depend on the environment she will be displayed in. If there is the chance of wheeling her out and firing her up, then maybe jag V-12’s, maybe Gypsy Majors just to get the props turning with a vaguely correct ‘sound and smoke’ show.. or maybe, if the money is there, a couple of Kestrels for near-complete authenticity.. who knows? But this is all in the far future. Right now we are focussed on building an authentic and accurate airframe. Watch this space for announcements on that, by the way!

Thanks very much! And very best of luck with this fascinating project!

What are you doing about engines?
(Hope you’re the sort that believes that there’s no such thing as a stupid question!)

Seriously? A long-term restoration project is just beginning on the other side of the world, and already you’re asking about where they will be flying?

    No, I wasn’t serious.

This is about the best you can expect in the way of a flying example. Cheers Gary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg9QB2vEDkY

A real HP-42 is being built-but its a private project and they’re not keen on publicity.

The obvious question to Hairyplane is-can I have a flight in your Storch before u can charge more for it?
    Thought not!

My first was G-AIDN too! It was at a display at Knebworth House in the 70s. I remember being disappointed that it was yellow and a 2 seater!
