Oxcart, it would be better put “awaiting restoration.”
G’day 😉
Fair dinkum, mate!
It’s in Australia. I didn’t know that HARS has a beaufighter under restoration, though!
[QUOTE=Steve Bond;1860520]I cannot stay on the sidelines, this has to be answered. The answer is an emphatic “no”, the decision to ground the Bf.109 had nothing whatsoever to do with the RAF Museum.[/QUOTE
Sorry for the mis-information, but Michael Fopp was definitely mentioned in one of the mags at some point. Glad to be corrected
I remember reading an article by the director of the RAF Museum who was hardly complimentary about the American Air Museum, saying something along the lines of it being a conservation disaster. He was also critical of the IWM’s ability to “acquire” aircraft, Duxford wants a Liberator, Duxford gets a Liberator etc etc. I mean, wasn’t the Liberator swapped for a Spitfire? Strange.
Is that the man that had ‘Black 6’ grounded? I know a few people who haven’t been complimentary about him, too!
Eric Brown used to fly them. It would be nice to see it painted as (one of?) his
According to a letter from a NASA archivist in the latest issue of ‘Classic Aircraft’ they were all funded in 1961 so all have ’61’ prefixes eg 61-7950
As this was a story from last year can we assume that whatever it was came to zero? Now theres a thought a Mitsubishi A6M Zero, well I can dream.
I believe they had a zero replica in the hanger for about 10 minutes. I heard they got gazumped by another collector
I wonder where India’s priorities are when I read this thread and http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/02/16/india-malnutrtion-feature-idINDEE81F0BA20120216.
People are going hungry and lacking health care in America, too! I find that even more shocking!
Judging by the cut grass, he’d been through there before!
I expect ‘ship’ forums are full of people arguing over the various ‘Titanic’ films!
It’s a good day for Fortress fans-Memphis Bell is on later on
I too have watched it again and listened to what is said very carefully. Again he says he its has been 6 years since he first spoke to PJ re Dambusters and that on Monday he is off to NZ to work on THE HOBIT with PJ. When asked it it will still happen he clearly says he hopes so and that they are both still passionate about it.
So again, he is not going out to NZ for meetings about Dambusters but to work on the Hobit. There is a difference! But saying he is going for meetings about the Dambusters re make infers that somthing is happening with the film when it is not. Im sure when he is out there he will discuss it with PJ but PJ has said that at the moment he is concentrating on the Two Hobit films.
In one way I hope they not so much re make The Dambusters but make a new Dambusters film, as he says they can tell more of the story now.
They can even get the name of the dog right:diablo:
Eh?? He said he is working on the hobbit NOW! and is off to NZ on Monday for talks about the Dambusters!
But if you’re one of those people that just HAS to be right, then have it your way! (i know what he said, so not bothered myself)
Seems some have selective hearing:rolleyes: What he actualy said was he was off to NZ to work on the Hobit with Peter Jackson and when he was asked about Dambusters re make he said he hoped it would still get made:)
So not off to NZ to have a meeting about Dambusters;)
I too never realised he was a pilot and used to own a Tiger and a Christen Eagle, just goes to show!!
I don’t! I recorded it, and know exactly what he said
He also said that he used to own a Christen? Eagle and a Tiger Moth (news to me, anyway!)
You shouldn’t believe everything you read! I asked Colonel Richard Graham (ex SR-71 squadron commander) about Shul’s claim on that Libyan mission at a talk he did at Duxford and he told me he saw the tapes from that mission and he said if Shul had gone that fast he would’ve grounded him!
