Someone who’s current on a Tigercat might be ok
Shame there wasn’t a big show somewhere today to commemorate it
Thanks again for posting, Matthias!- What a hell of a place to work!
There is news in the current issue of the ‘other’ magazine of the Thomas Morse S-4c being rebuilt “near Hatfield”, Herts (tantilisingly close to me!)
One of them popped over to Stansted in ’83
I believe there are 2 more ‘flyers’. Iirc, the first one , (a two seater) went toa dentist, and I read somewhere recently that Jerry Yagen’s Military Aviation Museum is due to take delivery of a single seater shortly
wondering which Hurricane will be next to fly, and if anyone has pictures?
G-ROBT looks quite close to flying if you look at Hawker Restorations website (to my untrained eye, anyway!)
And there is an article about Personal Plane Services (Where Mr Weeks’ Tempest V is) in the current issue of ‘Aircraft’. Tony Biachi, who runs it, says they’ve had to rebuild most of the front fuselage and modify/rebuild the wings from mark II to mark V standard.
They have not thought about where the Sabre will be rebuilt yet, but it will most likely be sent to one of the American ‘shops, and they are hoping to find some specific tools to enable them to do it. Hope this helps
A Privateer was restored to fly recently for airshow work still in it’s tanker scheme- there was a piece in ‘Aircraft’about it (Iirc)
I would try for David’s number if I were you, Paul is probably speaking to Doug at the moment!
Thanks for that news!-never thought I’d see one of those over here!- welldone to everybody involved
The SAAF still use Turbodaks for maritime patrol AFAIK
Whatever the OFMC are trying to borrow!-best of luck, people!
John Marlin’s MB-5 Look-a-like?
Apart from the Blenheim, Fury and Mosquito, there is potential for 2 more Hurricanes (G-ROBT is looking good on Hawker restoration’s website and AM274 in Washington is now on it’s wheels). And as someone else said, ANYTHING from the Meier Motor’s ‘shop would be good! (especially the FW-190D-although I have no idea if that’s likely to make it out this year). Oh, and that Mark 1 Anson in Australasia somewhere!
It’s got a Centaurus!
