Hope you’re all enjoying a nice break (apart from those of you who are restoring/rebuilding warbirds to fly-GET ON WITH IT!!!) 🙂

The crew took turns to read from Genesis, apparently-but as we all know, they weren’t really there at all-they were in a converted hangar at Area 51 (I’m joking, I’m joking!!)

I remember reading about one that is being converted to Jumo power for Paul Allen’s collection, but no idea which one-and he’s not well at all

I am only passing on what he said!!-there were things like holes but into it to run cables through-and no pulleys! It’s a real shame because he set out with the intention of getting it flying

There was an article (in either Flypast for Aeroplane) some time ago featuring an engineer who was working on one in Sandtoft (iirc) and he said the construction method was so primitive (because of the pressure of war) that it wouldn’t get past the CAA in order to fly it

Does anyone knows if the Polikarpov fighters have flown in the US since their arrival?[/QUOTE]

    Depends which ones?
-I saw an I-16 flying at the CAF show in 2002

Yes, it was ground looped. This is not the through the aircraft and replacing hydraulic and other systems which were, um… well…. lets just say, they needed work.

    Richard

Thanks RM!-I remember reading that, now!

Yaegens was groundlooped (i believe they are prone to that) but don’t know if it was repaired or if they are waiting for parts

Surely they wont be able to just hang them on the airframe and go fly?

It’s in the thread title ‘The world’s latest warbird – an Su-27’

    That reads ‘AN Ess-you 27′ rather than ‘A Soo-27’.

Sorry for being so anal …… it’s just a pet peeve.

    Ken

Most of us have got pet peeves i expect -mine happens to be those aircraft models made out of mahogany:(!

Am I missing something?- I’ve only ever seen it written as Su-er… from … Sukhoi
