Al you’ll miss the last airshow by about a week (10/11 Sept), but daresay something will be out and about.
GUTTED. But I will still get to see the sights at Duxford. Thanks very much for the feedback. We have six weeks in the UK, and this visit will be a highlight.
Off topic, please forgive. My wife and I are travelling from Australia to the UK for a holiday in September. Going to visit Duxford again, cant wait. I understand there will be an airshow that month, is there any information of activities around the 19th to the 21st.? Thanks in advance.
To echo other threads, a huge thank you to all who contribute to this remarkable website. The first thing I check each day, and am never disappointed.
All the best to all in 2016.
I have a severe case of lens envy…
A question that interests me, but the one thing that we can be certain of is that all the moves will be captured and posted here.
Thanks chaps. 😀

Living in Australia, but having visited Duxford several times, I am looking forward to the updates. I thank all very much for this forum
What a fantastic view.!!
Well…….that saves me from asking THAT question.!!!!!
Bit off subject, but does anyone know how much longer the Lambeth exhibits will remain at Duxford.?? Am visiting in June, and would love to see them.
How boring :p. Personally i love the variety of weather we have.
Its the duller days in England that makes you appreciate the brighter days even more.Rob
My parents emigrated here, ( South Australia), 49 years ago. While we have hot weather, I cannot wait to visit England this year and Duxford will be a highlight.
Dont realy care if its dull or bright.!!!
So in order to get her back to 1940 configuration you would like to delete any modification carried out post the Battle and strip away genuine 1940’s paint so she could be spruced up to something like her appearance then?
I find it somewhat amusing that Spitfire enthusiasts fixate on a few months in 1940 and find that anything that happened post that to an early Mk Spitfire is in some way irrelevant! I find it very easy to imagine her as a Battle of Britain machine as she is – the last thing she needs is the attention of enthusiastic restorers with a bent on trying to turn back time!
That is the great thing about this forum, you may have an opinion, but after reading comments such as Davids, it does open your eyes a bit.
You are quite correct, David.
I would say that R6915`s ORIGINAL glory is its 1940 Battle of Britain colours and markings she wore with 609 Squadron. Code letters PR-U. 57 sorties flown, with 13 different pilots. 5 aircraft destroyed, 6 damaged. Such a shame that she is still in the late war livery from her various OTU days. Such an illustrious career history when you compare it to Spitfire P9444 that is at the Science museum. She sat out the entire battle due to damage from a crash landing on 3/7/40 with 72 Squadron yet for some reason was put back into a battle of Britain livery. PERSONALLY i would love to see R6915 restored to 1940 standards.
Beautifully put.
Wish I had put it that way….
Is there any chance of some photo’s of the “Lambeth Spitfire” in the future.?
I am wondering what will happen to this aircraft, will it be rstoreded to original glory.?
Any updates appreciated.
