Ok I’ll have a go (oh BTW- this is a good one).
Taking into account the main fact that I need the force in service partially by 2008 I’d be looking at Second hand stuff to counter the Su-27 problem. To this end I’d turn to the US and ask for some second hand F-14’s.
This with the AIM-54’s could present a stand off capability for my A/F couple this with the AWG-9 radar and I could use these planes in an AWACS role like the IRIAF have done, and lsince my country is not that big, I’d get a pretty good coverage with say three planes up at any one time. I’d buy 24 F-14D’s as these would be good in providing a ground offencive capability as well as an A2A role.
For maxiumum trooplift capability, nothing in the west compairs to the Mi-26, of which 6 would be enough to give me a good sized deployment anywhere in the country. These strong work horses have the range and payload capacity for me to get what I want anywhere, and they are good for the mountains as well.
But since both Russia and America will want to try and control my politics I’d get most of my equipment from China and France whop are only interested in sales.
I’d buy Chinese Mi-17’s and Dauphans to fill my helo needs say 24 and 12 of each respectivly and as for fixed wing I’d buy 12 C-160’s and 12 Alpha jets from France in a government to government deal.
I’d also buy long range Sam’s from China and Short range ones from France this will help stop the incurssions of the Uzbeki aircraft.
As for priomary training a/c, I’d turn to New Zealand for their CT-4E’s as these offer the cheapest solution to this requirment for this I’d buy 6 planes.
