Sader: mate I do have, I have a book all about WWII planes including prototypes, I’ll find it and get back to you on it, but till tells the tale of one flying and fighting B-29’s over Japanese territory (Can’t quite remember off the top of my head, but it’s in the book) It’s apparently fired at 2 B-29’s causing one to loose both engines on the port side, the last time up the guns jammed and the pilot decided to return to base instead of Kamikazi attacking a B-29.

2. During WWII, three planes were produced with Canards and a pusher engine, what were they and which country did they serve in?
XP-55 Assender, J7W1 Shinden or the Henschel KW87 and the Mig 8. The Utka was a transport plane with no real fighting abliity, but since I didn’t specify actual combat types I have to accept it. The J7W1 Shinden actually did make production and flew three missions before hostilities ceased in 45 (It was a damd big plane even by todays standards)

3. Where did the SAAF buy their C-130’s?
12 were bought from the USAF as surplus stock, the others were bought from the RAAF. These were C-130A’s that were subsequently redon in to C-130B models just before sanctions were imposed on them.

4. What planes were sent up against these planes during local conflicts and by which country?
a. Kfir C.2= [B]Mig 21’s and Mirage V’s depending on the conflict
b. Canberra= I’ll accept the Metores and Harriers but I was thinking of F-104’s from Pakistan
c. F-100= [B] I will accpet Mig 15’s and 17’s but I was thinking of the Greek/ Turkish Affair in which some 102’s when up against them.
d. Entendard IV= None, this was a trick question as has been pointed out by Sean. Super Entendards were met in the Gulf by IRIAF fighters such as Mig-23’s and F-14’s
e. A-37= This plane has been in many conflicts so Migs of NVAAF are acceptable as are other planes in the South American countries. The last incident was with the F-1’s of FAE back in 94

5. Airships are making a comeback with the Russian services having just ordered some for patrol and surveillance work, yet they proved very popular during WWI with strategic bombing. Which service was interested in Airships a few years ago and for what role? The USAF was interested in them back in 96 for the role of AWACS

Art even though you are right about what you wrote to a degree, the answer is that the RNZAF was to have purchased the F-16’s that were formerly going to go the the Pakistani Air Force, but a change of government cancelled the deal and also closed the books on the ACW

b. How many squadrons have operated the type?= Two
c. Name the Squadrons= 36 and 37 Sqdns of the Air Transport Wing

[B]Eagle farm is one place that some captured Japanese planes were flown from, as was Bubblegum Airfield just south of Brisbane and the types flown were N1K2-J “George”, Ki-61 “Tony” and Ki-44 “Tojo” as well as one Ki-84 “Frank”
