RE: The Sukhoi 80
Yes I did Mongu, thanks for the mention. Sadly I won’t be getting into the game.
Ever since 9/11 and the fall of Ansett, as well as the rediculouse public liability claims down here (Bloody lawers chacing ambulances), costs for opperating any form of airline down here have been killed off by the spiraling costs, sorry I’m just gonna go away and have a good cry now :'(
Ok I’m back, well no one has opted for this great plane. It’s a damd good one as well with very impressive qualities, the only thing I wasn’t impressed with was having the toilet right behind the pilots. I mean seriously, if someone like me got in there, the pilots would be killeds in an instant of opening the doors, it would be worse than WWI 😉 Besides there is the embaresment factor, no one likes to be looked at after they come out of a dunny do they? I can understand why they put it there though, I mean the plane has a conversion time of 28 min from Airline config with 30 seats, to Cargo with no seats, and the rear loading ramp is very handy.
I’m ever greatful to the chaps at KNAPO for the info they sent me, including the DVD. I might be able to copy the dvd, should anyone require a look at it, it’s in AVI form anyway. Just email me and I will see what I can do! If you want pics posted of the SU-80, I can also supply them.

RE: Images of War
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-09-02 AT 12:39Â PM (GMT)]DOUGHNUT: I was just sharing these pics of interest! As for the copyright, I’m not in breech here is why:
1. To be in breech of copyright, you must have copied at least 10% of the entire book, this quallifies the owner to sue for misuse and claim loyalties for which they are entitled to.
2. As the pics are very common, one could say that they came from anywhere, they are freely available on the net as well as the book I got them from, so copyright doesn’t really apply here.
Now is anyone prepared to discuss something of interest here or not?
Personally I find the B-29 pic very interesting.

RE: Who has the longest ?
Mate that link doesn’t show what I’m talking about, give me a bit of time and I’ll see what I can find.

RE: Who has the longest ?
Huston and Nevada are the other two GD, and yeah you’re right about Sydney mainly cause of the flight path and length as well as being suitable to carry heavy weight A/c at any time. KSA’s runway is made from 1Meter thick re-inforced concreate, that’s why we never have to close it down for repairs 😉
Though they are building the new Space port up in the North of Queensland!

RE: laptops
Personally I perfer the Gatway Laptops, I used to sell them and I have compared them to the rest, they are the thinest most reliable of all the Laptops I’ve ever come across.
I also like the idea of specifying what I want in a computer, and gateway offer very competitive prices.
You can see what they have on offer here:

David: Well yes that’s true, I’ll have to concede defeat on that point!
Neilly: I list the 747 simply cause it’s more widely known, every country in the world knows about the 747, but only a few know about the Comet, I would agree with you, but personally I think the 747 has the advantage since there are more of them flying these days.

RE: The best of British
Well Personally I love the good old Mini, especially the 67 GTI clubman sport, as for the Spit, I’d prefer a Beau, but thems the breaks!
Give me coffee and no-one gets hurt!
Here’s what I think and why!
Wright Flyer: Well it was the first plane
Sopwith Camel: Best associated with WWI
Spitfire: Best associated with WWII
UH-1: Best most produced Helo
Boeing 747: Biggest and most produced airliner
Space Shuttle: the next generation, ok I know it can’t fly like the other planes, but still it has to be included as a plane, and Yes I know that’s 6 but you ca’t deny m list has some credit!
As for the Bell 47, it wasn’t the first military nor any first helo, does everyone forget about the RA-4 Hoverfly? It was in use back in 1944 with the USAAF, if you want the first helo, then that should be it!

RE: Aeropelican
Thanks guys, Flying in the DHC-6 is marvellous, I personally love flying in planes with props, the shudder of the props really lets you know that you’re flying in a plane that comes from the old school!
I remember once when I was coming home on leave from the Navy, we flew in over the Highway I mentioned, and a lady from interstate slamed on the breaks and paniced, mean while I saw her and she saw me and I waved at her, maybe that’s why she had the accident 😛
