Well as for the J-10 all I can say is that it is a very interesting plane.

Tell me, doesn’t LM own a stake in Aero now? If so, why don’t they market the L-39/59/159 better?

Hmmmm my ideal F-35, Does having it made in Sweden count? Or how about Russia?

New wing, developed LEREX’s Cranked Arrow form, extended way back, butterfly tail cranked at about 15*

Naval landing gear for the extra weight it would carry (naturally)

Gun as above.

AAR International type- yes I am aware that this method is slower, but what good is going on deployment if you also have to send a tanker and it gets downed? At least with the basket many countries have them and support is easier!

I was just reading somewhere the other day how the LHD’s are being looked at for a future platform for the F-35’s. Now add to this the F-35B requirement and I think you can start seeing a logical conclusion here (god knows even the blind man down the road can).

The study commissioned by the government called for upto 8 F-35B’s to be based on board the LHD’s around 2020. Should this be the case, I think we will see two sqdns of RAN FAA becoming active on the F-35B’s and HMAS Sterling undergoing a modernisation for Fighter aircraft on the base (Current base has a helo station on the North Western side of the Island).

Just because the requirment for a ski jump isn’t in the current wording of any contract, who’s to say that upon signing of the contract in 2009 (at the latest) we won’t get it in there, or that it couldn’t be retro fitted at a latter date.

Well it does actually matter if they intended on using them to fly F-35B’s from, the Mistrals can’t take them and the SPS can.

The article also said an announcement is expected from the USN soon re purchase of 200 more Hornets because of delays in the JSF program.

More proof that the F-35 Concept is in trouble, if the US are looking at buying extra bugs to cover a gap, then everyone else should start sitting up and taking notice!

A decision on the matter will be announced early next year probably before the 2007-08 budget is formalised.

The last budget before the hand over to the Labor party. Johhny and his goons are really out this time! Besides, if the government does do a change over, the new government can still have a chance to cancel the deal- look at the F-16 deal for New Zealand, the kiwi’s didn’t just scrap the Falcons, they scrapped their Air Force.

Sorry to drag this topic up again guys but I just had a bit of a poke around, if you look at Adelaide Australia, zoom in on Elizabeth (where RAAF Edinburgh is located) you can clearly see our first Wedgetail sitting on the ramp with many people around it.

Im going to say NZ,our former Skyhawk fleet flew the lowest over the ocean at 50ft

Damd things, I remember being buzzed by them! One guy decided to spit up in the air just as one flew over our Sub and the pilot was not impressed as it hit his wind shield, hahahahaha, ahhhh the good old days!

Another candidate would definately have to be the Sri Lankan Air Force, they have the combat experience and the planes but sadly not in enough numbers!

Well this topic seemed to get way off track, bringing it back, has anyone managed to find out if Romania had ordered the SH-2G’s as originally asked for in the begining?

I always thought it funny that the Swedish Navy had the HKP-6’s armed with 2 very light torpedos
