It may interest you people to know that the North Korean avy has the most amount of mini subs in the world, some hold only four people and are an expansion on the WWII British X craft design.
bare with me on this one guys, i have a merchy friend who might know something about her, I’ll ask him and get back to you on it. It looks like one of the ones he’s been sailing on recently of the “Europa Group”
Vip, mate I don’t mind the people in the blue or Khaki so feel free to post them again, actually i’d be honoured
It is of interest mate and thanks for posting it, I did some of my training on the old A boat “Buccaneer” (ACPB 100), She was for so long tied up along side at HMAS Cerberus as a rusting hulk used only for SAS (Survival at sea) training.
As a matter of interest, we were also shown many episodes of the ABC series “Patrol Boat” which featured predominantly around the life aboard the A boats.
Are you an ex-pusser mate?
Sounds like you and I could spin a few warries over the rations 😉
I was on Geraldton and Gawler a couple of times for various reasons myself
I think the main point is all these cases is that no matter how you arm a ship there is always going to be another ship built after it that will be better armed.
The best thing that can be hoped for is for a ship to fullfil it’s governemnets requirements as close to 100% as possible for as cheap as possible. To this end, the Royal New Zealand Navy has done really well with it’s Project Protector choices, these ships will fullfil a stagering 96% of the mission requirements for the limited budget (NZ$500M) that was set asside for it.
I see the F-124, the Type 45 and the Horizon all in the same category in terms of operational capabilities so the real question must come in the form of which of these ships is better suited to the needs of the country that has the requirement!
Anyway are there anymore people out there that have service pics, surely there must be some?
Correct me if I am wrong but didn’t the Brazilians buy the two carriers for US$12M and one was Stripped of all decent equipment in order to keep the other afloat for at least 20 years?
Nah mate, she was a nasty piece of work and that warm smile is aclcohol inflicted!
Thanks for playing guys, sorry it’s taken me a bit to get back but I have been rather busy lately with doing pics for every man and his dog and it’s not over (I have some pics to share a little later).
Here I am with an ex girl friend at her 18th
Here you go guys, this is from an old news paper, this is how you fix a subs noise problems
Facinating, wonder how it would have faired in RAAF service though
Wasn’t the Moray supposed to have been ordered for the RoCN? I remember the American’s wanted us to build some Collins class for the RoCN but with the troubles we’ve had that got canned.
I know that the GE isn’t I remember seeing a documentry on her!
