Page 105 of Bob Rudhall’s first book ‘Battle of Britain The Movie’ says that the CASA 2.111 was a full size replica produced by the guys at Pinewood Studio.
In fact in his article in Warbirds Worldwide (RIP) issue 5 ‘ The pinewood aircraft factory excelled itself when it produced a one-off full size replica of a Heinkel 111. It weighed six tons and was complete down to the last minute detail. This particular replica was used in the film to simulate a crashed He111’.
As I said before, I am sure it has spent some time at the South Yorkshire Avaiation Museum at Firbeck…
I need someone to confirm this.. but, I thought the nose section spent some time at the South Yorkshire Aviation Museum when it was at Firbeck in the late 80’s.
It was being restored. I have some pictures of it somewhere…
The first picture from the last set you just posted must be worth a caption competition?
Here’s a couple more piccies, PDS what do you think is going to happen when she is finished Big clue BBMF started with Mk XVI Spits
Thanks very much.. That wasn’t too difficult now was it? We got there in the end..
Nice pictures by the way…
The question was….
What do they intend to do with her when the restoration is finished?
Thanks Guys….. you got me….
Does that mean you dont know whats happening to it then?
We are thinking about mounting her on a pole outside by the museum shop.
Why??
I thought you only did that to plastic aircraft..
I’m sorry. But I think that is a waste…. As I can see from the pictures of the interior, it is being lovingly restored. Only to be left outside?? On a pole??
What do they intend to do with her when the restoration is finished?
Is this the one thats owned by 2 farmers or something like that? I seem to remember there was a Lanc that was owned by 2 farmers that was run up regulary.
I take it you haven’t been paying attention????
It’s RM689, I think – note the tailwheel in the first pic.
Thanks
I didn’t see that.
I shall keep looking…
I think I have found PS915 ‘in action’ in the film.
Hopefully Mark12 can confirm.
It looks like a PRXIX and it is carrying the codes AI-A….
A shot taken from the ‘Polish Squadron Scene’
Note the bottom three planes are the ‘Hurrismitts’.
In fact there have been many images of these Buchons published through the years. You just need to know where to look.
Good pictures anyway. Have you got anymore to share?
Sorry Mark12..
I was so busy looking through my books, I did not see your reply..
I knew you would be first to have the answer AGAIN….
Thanks
PDS.
Certain identifying features?
Yes, I just found it…
Bob Rudhalls first book.. page 131.
TB382.. 3 Blade prop. 6 Tubular exhaust stubs. No wingtip nav lights..
Mind you SM411 is identified the same!?
BUT I have found another picture of it in my collection as DO-M.
No, not a Markaddie.
A high back Mk XVI – TB382.
Mark
Any reason why?
