I don’t know, I got told off at DX last Thursday for using the phrase “Plane”, and now I’m getting English lessons from an Australian. What’s next ?????? 😀
Will it be at Leg…………………….. Opps sorry wrong thread.

DH Rapide ?????
From Gentlemen in Blue, the story of 600 Sqn
A quote by Charles Spry a young NCO who joined the Sqn in September 1941.
“The Beaufighter MkII was a recipe for disaster. It swung violently on takeoff and landing. It had the heaviest wing loading of any aircraft, and consequently they were heavy and difficult to handle, except that is in straight and level flight. and on one engine it could not maintain height.
Not Libya I know, but we did come across an old lady in Tunisia who was using the top of an oil drum for sifting grain. The drum was clearly marked Luftwaffe with a date which I think was 1941.
Whispering Death is just a myth, the Japanese never called it such !!!
The Merlin Beaufighter MkII was not liked by it’s crews who preferred the Hercules version’s, I’m lead to believe that it had some pretty poor handling characteristics.
Sad news, a great loss.
I think I will remember him most for his appearance during the live dig to recover the remains of his Hurricane. His total bewilderment at the fuss, and his full on interest in the pretty blonde presenter !!!!
God bless Ray
Plenty of mines left over from the various battles of the desert campaign, I’m lead to believe.
Ah! A Zimmer frame with a canapé. 🙂
Mark
Is it a Data Plate re-build ? How many genuine Zimmer parts does it really contain ?
A few shots from the calendar launch on Thursday night.
1. Robbo was chuffed to see that Faces from the Blue had made provisions for the OAP’s amongst us.
2. Ken Ellis suddenly realises that his partner for the latest series of “Celebrity Come Dancing” has left him.
3. The Proud Parents !!!
4. The Models
5. Just for the hell of it.
Have a look at pg 534 of (re-arrange these words) News Aviation July edition.
10.27am Just arrived back in civilisation, a great night despite the best efforts of Flymaybe and the M25 orbital car park. Nice to meet up with Robbo, Mark 12, Janie and Darren etc. Even managed to have a pint on Francois’s bench at the Red Lion, a precursor to Legends in a couple of weeks time. Hope to post some pictures here later on today.
The Grand Launch is being held this evening, make sure you get your order in quick, they’re going like hot cakes.
For those of you who are going to Dx this evening, I look forward to seeing you there.
Maybe they could go round with a collection bucket and credit card machine and collar all those who stand outside the fence to watch airshows.
Will you be at Legends ??????? 😀
Please note my original comment about paying for access to this forum was not meant to be taken too seriously !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll attribute the various comments to the heat of the day.
Mind you, it would cut down on the number of Muscadet induced alter egos posting.
