Unfortunately, a few were not only married but also had children or pregnant wives. Tom Kirby-Green and Paul Tobolski immediately come to mind.

You’re quite right !!! Tom Kirby-Green’s wife married Roy Langlois a Guernseyman who was one of the last out of the tunnel, and one of the first to be recaptured. Kirby-Greens son has been interviewed several times in programmes about the Escape.

However these seem to be the exception and were probably picked because they were persistant escapers, and therefore troublesome. Though I admit I can only refer to the various books written on the subject. One in particular written by J Vance has some glaring errors in it, which are unfortunately repeated in books which have used it as reference.

I’ve met Robbo, Snapper, Steve Young and Flood to name a few several times, I wouldn’t want to marry any of them.

A sad story Whalebone, I hope it works out for her in the end.

The present MRSEN830 is a bit of a control freak, I took the bull by the horns the other week and told her what I really thought, it seemed to do the job as I didn’t see her for several days, but then the swelling went down and the doctors said I could be discharged.

Funny I never mentioned online relationships, as far as I can tell from my previous thread, or did I miss something ?

After 14 years of marriage and knowing the present MRSEN830 since I was 17, I’m glad we didn’t rush into to anything. Marriage is something to be worked at, and boy what a job it is at times. Good luck to your mate, I wonder how many quickie international marriages actually last?

I will be standing on a cold Street corner on Saturday, pushing our Grand Auction in aid of the Jersey Asia Relief Appeal on 5 February, 160 lots so far and rising.

Having visited Bukenwald and Sachsenhaussen I can honestly say that the whole experience had a sobering effect.

Though why do they insisted on focusing solely on the 6m, in total over 12m individuals were killed in the Concentration Camp set up.
