Watched a Q400 leaving Jersey this evening (7.30 ish) and flying away with its under cart down. Wondered why until I saw the news.

    Hi Jerry

Is the Whirlwind footage the same as the Pathe film taken at Warmwell in 1942 ?

As always, the Em.195’s appearance is subject to serviceability. :diablo:

From someone I know at FlyMayBe, they took one to Le Bourget earlier this year and guess what, it broke down !!!!

From what I understand some of the commercial aircraft will be open for viewing on the static line like the BMI Airbus and the Flybe EMB195 so things are looking good also the DC6 is going to be something to see from what I can make out.

Apart from the DC6, I wouldn’t say the inclusion of an Airbus and EMB195 was in the slightest bit interesting.

We had already decided to visit the war tunnels and occupation museum (her idea not mine suprisingly enough!) and also visit the war hospital on Jersey. We’ve seen on quite a few photos of the coast on both islands that there appears to be a reasonably number of WWII pillboxes scattered along the shoreline.
Are there any other sites (specifically aviation related) I, err we can visit during our time there?

There are two aviation related memorials on Jersey, one at Noirmont point on the south coast and the other behind the Zoo in the Parish of Trinity. There are also many memorial stones scattered around the island these include one to Captain Ayton who lead the only raid to Jersey and another to the crew of an American PT boat.

Can somebody have a word with the orginisers as I’m honeymooning on Jersey for the last week in September and on Guernsey for the first week in October, can they not have a little flyabout then?

Pity you couldn’t bring your wedding forward a couple of weeks.

I hope the weather’s good for you during your stay, I can see from my desk that the sun is shining here in St Helier at the moment and is forecast to do so for the next week or so.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said about Jersey’s 13th parish, Guernsey, where it’s a bit like the Midlands, lots of rain with the addition of a population that all share the same passport photograph.

Mind you their occupation museum is superb and not as commercial as the Jersey War Tunnels. If you do nothing else during your stay in Guernsey, make sure you drop in there, quite a bit of aviation content.

    An update

The updated list is now available and there is certainly an eclectic list of participants for the 2007 show on September 13th, but no Vulcan. Judging by the first participant list that was published back in July, the inclusion of the Vulcan would have meant that 7 other aircraft may not have been present.

Ironically the organisers were on local TV the other evening saying that this years show will have a short fall of Β£30k, and that unless further sponsorship can be found the show would probably not go ahead next year.

Two days later in the local paper they were jumping up and down celebrating because they have booked the Vulcan for next year.

Seems like the department of misinformation has been hard at work.

I moved from a Sigma 170-500 F5.6 to the 100 – 400L ISM last year, at thr time it was coupled to a 10 D and I fot some reasonably good results. However I’ve Just invested in a 1D Mk3 to compliment it, not tried it at any airshows yet, but initial results from the various test shots I’ve tried at the local airport are encouraging.

I think the downside with the 300D is it’s lack of servo focusing.

The Saab Tunnan is down to go to the Jersey Air Show where it displayed last year, there is another aircraft to be with it at the show does any one have any idea what the other aircraft could be. I assume it might be a support aircraft if so any ideas?

Is that confirmed, as far as I am aware and according to the Airshow website it’s down to funds being made available.

ubject to sufficient funding we can also expect to see:-

    B17 “Pink Lady”
    B25 Mitchell
    A26 Invader
    P51 Mustang
    OV-10 Bronco
    Morraine Paris
    Saab Tunnan
