I know they use an Atlantic Airlines BAe ATP on the Bournemouth-Guernsey Mail run. plus dont they bring in jersey Flowers aswel.James

No so much now, the Jersey flower industry is in decline and the main producers have relocated away from the Island.

Not sure when these were taken, they’re from a bygone age

Any ideas of where the Bluebird goes to/from and the schedule for it and the Atlantic flights?!

    Found this on Prune :-

The Koln – Rennes – Jersey rotation is to be operated by Bluebird Cargo on behalf of UPS. This is confirmed now and will begin ops on the 27th March

The L-188 usually arrives early in the morning at about 5.30 and leaves at 19.30 in the evening.

As it spent the majority of its time in Jersey exposed to the salt laden winds straight from the Atlantic, I am not in the least surprised that it is suffering from corrosion.

Nice shots there from Jersey nice little Island:cool: Is that L-188C the BOH Mail and flowers run ?

    James

Enlighten me, what is BOH ???? I not up to date on the generally accepted airport codes.

Not sure what it is used for, I believe that the BlueBird Cargo 737 is used on the mail/papers run. However the Electra is in the island most days in conjunction with an Atlantic ATP. Both of which were at the airport early this morning when I dropped in to collect a friend of mine.

    Nice photographs EN830.

I don’t want to offend by talking about the ‘other island’ but I always like to see pics of Aurigny aircraft or of the islands airports and aircraft in days gone by if you have any.

Also, at the risk of asking a stupid question, why do you call Blue Island Blue Circle?

    1L.

I have some shots going back a few years on a format called film, (remember that :D) somewhere in the loft, though I’m not sure how easy it would be to get to them. I don’t think I have any from any of the other islands thought, they’ll be at Jersey airport, I’ve posted pictures of the Heralds, Viscounts and Flying Shoe boxes and BAC 111’s on historic before now.

No idea why we call Blue Island, Blue Circle (Cement) it’s one of those daft things that seems to have stuck.

Nice shots there, good to see some stuff from somwhere different for a change.

I thought Blue Islands used their Trislanders on the inter-island routes, or have they got rid of them since they got the Jetstreams?

As far as I am aware they are still using the Trilanders though I must admit I can’t say I’ve seen one for sometime. I don’t think the Jetstream would be licenced to land in Alderney in any case, Trilander are ideal for this route.

The Jetstreams are used inter-island and on routes to Bournemouth and the IOM. There was talk of BlueCircle taking over the Standstead route from Atlantic, though this doesn’t seem to be the case at present. Would be handy for DX if they did.

Up at 4.45, this AM, to get out an out before the light got too harsh.

Stopped off at the airport to take these two historic beasts as they came in. The sun wasn’t quite awake, so as an experiment I turned the ISO up to its maximum 3600, with mixed returns.

This was taken in the north east of the island, just after sun up.

These are from a bay on the south coast a little later, this time with a 50mm Macro.

    And this around lunch time.

All in all I’m impressed with the Mk3, my only criticism, and it may be something I’m doing, is that the shots appear very dark in the screen, but OK when I load them onto the iMac. Transition from the 10D to the Mk3 hasn’t been hard. In fact the Mk3 feels very much like my old EOS3.

Oddly enough, I once applied to be a dustman, however a friend of mine told me it was a rubbish job, so I took it no further.

I believe I was a dustman in a previous life, but that’s all bin and gone now.
