I wonder if there would be sufficient interest to charter the Russian survey ship used recently on Titanic and Bismark ( I watched the latter on TV last night – amazing.) to go take a look?

    Hairyplane

Paul Allen (Mr Gate’s silent partner) would be the chap to write to, they used his yacht on the Ark Royal trip and I believe that he has an interest in historic aviation.

Apart from the fact that due to censorship the 1950’s dambusters featured
Lancasters carrying a bomb that looked like an edam cheese! History has always been modified and blended to suit the film maker .

I was always under the impression the fact that the bombs didn’t look anything like the real thing was due to Upkeep still being officially “secret” and that the producers had to use their imaginations when it came to designing their props. I didn’t realise that it was all down to censorshiip.

Still, if they were censored back then, it was a different kind of censorship, for a different reason, compared to the PC censorship enforced today.

So in reality the codeword could have been any number of other words !

No, in reality the code word “was” N!gger.

Compared to the sacrifice of the bomber crews did the dog actually play a major part in the planning of the raid ?

No, but he did play a major part in the raid it’s self, i.e as a code word.

It would be interesting to get a view point from the otherside, i.e from someone of a Afro-Carribean background.

Why so proud about sitting on an aerial bus?

There are people who get all hot over omni-buses, so why not aero-buses ????

Personally I agree with you, I find air travel a bind and nothing to get moist about. Aero-buses are like a day out in Norfolk, everyone looks the same.

At a guess, 1968-80, looking at my photos but I stand to be corrected.

Sort of ties in with my memory, I recall seeing her at Weston Super Mare in the early 70’s, possibly 73, and at that time she wore KM-B.

Not a bad attempt at a caption, but I was thinking more along the lines of:-

Please tell me more about your collection of flying models, I am having trouble sleeping at night.
