Can tourists aviod paying VAT on items they take home?

Tourists from Non EU states can claim back VAT, the majority of stores will have the relevant forms (ask first before making purchase), there is usually a VAT claim box at the point of departure where you deposit the form, you can also have the money credited to your credit card or BACS to your bank account. Living in the Channel Islands, I quite often claim back my VAT. On my 1DS Mk3 I saved over £1,000 with the price difference between here and the UK and also claiming back the VAT.

The engine sounds rough on approach and appears to belch out black smoke at one point.

Well done, topped the 12,000 with plenty of time to spare, can we get another 1,000 before mid-night tonight 😉

I had forgotten about a few of those, even though they were only based at them for such a short time. I had been thinking more of Warmell which I didn’t get to see ‘sigh!’ and Matlaske which I did on another cold, drizzly and windy day.

Not much to see at Warmwell these days, the majority of it has been quarried. Though there is a memorial in the village to those who lost their lives flying from the airfield.

Apart from Manston I think it is the only significantly complete airfield left from which the Whirlwind flew.
