Well if it does survive and was used for dropping Jeeps and Guns, has one considered approaching the Tank Museum at Bovington, when I was there this year, they have a few remaining parts of a Hamilcar glider set up to show how a Valentine tank was transported. I am trying to think out of the box, but maybe if it survives they would be interested.
Valentine! That would be a bit heavy….. 😉 The Hamilcar has a Tetrarch inside it as intended.
Or maybe fuzes were fitted while they were waiting. Bad habits are easy to develop!
So does that mean they have built another set at this other location?
There are two locations, the other is the main one with only the town scenes at Bovingdon.
Not really as the Tiger scenes are filmed at another location.
I too would be very interested in the correct answers, for the same reason!
Thanks for the clarification Steve.
My mistake, thanks for the correction. Does the CAA have the power to grant the right to wear those markings or merely the exemption from wearing the registration markings? I assume the CAA have to be happy with your chosen scheme to allow the registration exemption.
My (limited) experience has been related to our Auster IV, hence my original comment.
There are two stages in carrying ‘authentic’ military markings.
You apply to the military concerned to use their national markings but also to the CAA for an exemption in displaying your civilian registration, assuming you wish to do so.
B-17 tailwheel tyres are 26″ diameter.
I understood liners could be used? Certainly cylinder blocks are ‘the same’ as I have seen Buick cast blocks on Meteor, presumeably originally from Packard Merlin.
I’ve also had rods that were machined all over marked D30047 and others just forged finish, all in Meteor packaging.
Casino Royale, must watch it again………
I must confess an interest, having made the refueller tank bodies for special effects.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that left over from a bond film? I forget which one
Yes, Casino Royale. See post above! 😉
Casino Royale.
I aim to please!
It’s a DT, the tank version of the DP. Soviet 7.62mm drum fed machine gun.
