Does anyone know what engines it’s using?
but unfortunately it is actually quite useless for any aggressive action like shooting down the enemy if they decide to sit back and watch you gamely circling and using up fuel. At some stage you have to cut and run and then you are dead meat.
Not on home turf during 1940, when the enemy fighters were limited in time over the combat area.
As has been said before, had the Defiants been located in the North, the outcome may well have been significantly better.
In regards to the comments about a Navalised version, was the Defiant ever tested carrying any external ordinance?
All the world loves a conspiracy theory……
Did you hear about the TSR-2 that is stored in a secret underground bunker at a remote airfield in the wilds of Scotland…………………………….?
Same place the US Aurora visits regularly- always when there’s nobody around.π

Research events that never took place? π
Come back to reality! You are making assumptions based upon us conducting the war in the same manner as we would have done with the Americans. That is ridiculous, every change would have reactions that would affect events in ways that you nor I could really begin to comprehend.
Everything in this thread is conjecture, so don’t try telling me that there’s no way that we could have beaten the Germans. No point that you make is any more valid than mine.
If there’s anything that our history proves, it’s that the UK has a habit of getting out of tight spots!

As there is no mention of the Catalina I assume its not up for auction that could mean it belongs to someone else or it has already been sold off to someone but its a big beast to try to move if its in poor shape.
Mike E
The Catalina is still clearly visible on Google maps on the south end of the airfeild, still in pieces.
I’ve sent a message asking about the Catalina.
