Which of the two remaining MMRCA candidates is your favourite? I hope it’s not the Typhoon…

Which, while probably somewhat stealthier than a frame, is not a huge deal either – even the proposed production variant of the YF-23 (an aircraft generally credited with better stealth potential than the Raptor) retained a two-piece design.

The pros and cons of the Rafale and Eurofighter could be argued for the rest of time. Unfortunately for the French, Dassault don’t seem that bothered about selling it.

As for the PAKs canopy, I wouldn’t be suprised if there’s some significant changes before a production version. The rear visibility especially looks Like a real issue at the moment.

-Dassault is a private company that care quite little about poitics as long as they don’t get into the way of their financial well-being,

it’s impossible for an international arms supplier to not care about politics.

Please don’t rate India as a future super-power. India has a long way to go and a lot of people to lift out of poverty as has Brazil, China is at-least on-track.

I think Brazil should opt for the platform which gives the the most ToT, exactly because of the things you mentioned.

China really isn’t on track. Their prosperity is creating a huge divide in wealth and living standards. According to some Chinese students I study with, conditions are actually becoming worse for many.

IMO their country is on a path to revolution, the levels of corruption are simply staggering.

It looks green to me ! 🙂

On the subject of B-17 colour schemes ~ I’d love to see Sally B painted in RAF Coastal Command colours for a while. We could have a super airshow act with the Catalina and top cover provided by TFC’s Wildcat ……

    Or RAF bomber colours 😎

I’ve just see this on sky news: http://news.sky.com/home/politics/article/16110944

Apparently the Harriers (all 74) are to be sold for £34m. I assume there’s a mistake somewhere?

Isn’t the $50m just for the spares? (ie Not the airframes)

It’s a shame the US clearly recognise how useful an asset the Harrier can be, where our mod has clearly forgotten 🙁

At those weights there was either no cargo or it had a very light fuel load so wasn’t going very far.

The above video states it could have dropped 22,000 to 30,000lb worth of payload on the carrier. That could be extremely useful in emergencies.

What would it make the Eurofighter best in the world at? Best 4.5 gen fighter? (which it probably already is)

It has been done, with a BBMF Spitfire and Tornado F3, then Typhoon, on several occasions over the years.

With a few additions, including the Tin triangle, a Sunderland and a Mosquito (surely one of the best examples of British ingenuity) 😎
