Yes, I meant neolibs. People who support the European Union can’t be Socialists by definition, they’re opposing positions.
Good grief – the village idiot has been let out again, trash talking whilst waving an empty bottle in the air and slurring his views for transmission. Such an embarrassment…
I’m actually starting to quite like Farage. Sure, he has some unsavoury views, but he is Kryptonite to you neolibs. Everything he says prompts your eyes swivelling in their sockets, foaming at the mount, and furious key bashing to ensure you have signalled your virtue for all to see.
I’d love to think that in thirty-five years, long after I’m dead, that HMS Queen Elizabeth will be preserved as the last ever Royal Navy aircraft-carrier…
…but I doubt the prospect will be any more ‘viable’ in 2050 than it is now.
I suspect any future carrier force would be a contribution to a NATO (or similar alliance) one. Given the ever increasing cost of these things and the aircraft that operate from them, I don’t see how many of the current carrier operators will be able to afford them. We had the right idea with the joint Harrier force initially, and the subsequent joint F35 force, and I suspect there will be far more of this, even crossing national borders in the future. Certainly where things like training, maintenance etc are concerned.
To conclude, while as a VTOL aircraft it was years ahead of Harrier in terms of airframe performance,.
I think that depends on your measure 🙂 In terms our outright speed at altitude, undoubtedly. But I doubt the Yaks lift fan arrangement bestowed it with anything like the agility the Harrier had.
And what was the wing loading like?
My trip to the US a few weeks ago. Went for a close friends wedding, but the timing allowed me to go to the Reno air races, and I had time to visit PIMA. Sat in a Spitfire XIV and a Hellcat at Reno, and the sounds those unlimited class racers make is just something else. The highlight of PIMA was undoubtedly the B36, though the ‘Boneyard’ is incredible, and constant overflights by pairs of A10s just made the experience. It was also nice to see PIMAs immaculate Shackleton gleaming in the desert sun.
We have an Sr71 and a B24 at Duxford… thankfully nobody stopped them coming this way.
And perhaps, one day, PIMA will loan the UK their B36. Well, I can dream 😀
It is a good series 🙂
Is all the B17 content CGI, or were any real B17s used?
Thanks for the update 🙂 Does this mean that she will be repainted in the silver scheme? Would look great on her 😎
How long has the pink Bucc had an LGB hung on her? 😎 Does she also have a designator pod? Also, are there any current plans for the Canberra? She’d really benefit from a new paint job, though I realise there’s already a que.
Thankfully a great outcome for everyone 🙂 Looking forward to an opportunity to see them.
Docs first airshow season? 🙂 Potentially the first 2 ship B29 formation in decades.

Typhoons development failures can be placed squarely at most of the partner nations not pulling their weight when it comes to funding. When it finally receives AESA / Meteor, it will be head and shoulders above Rafale as an A2A platform.
, and look good to boot.
Doubtful. Mirage is easily one of the best looking jets of all time, Rafale is without a doubt the ugliest front line jet of recent times. Canopy, tail design etc looked older than the Mirage it replaced.
Dassault and France has better resources than China
Pure fantasy
I would agree, except that they have chosen to sell them in the public domain. They freely chose to sell them this way, so it’s ridiculous to claim that discussion about the sale of high profile items, featured in the media, is some kind of invasion of privacy.
Of course they have the right to do what they want with them, but they have no right to take offence (nor you on their behalf) over what has historically been a controversial subject.
Great update 🙂 Fantastic to see what was a fairly unloved type getting the attention it deserves. Any joy with sourcing a replacement canopy?
