And some of us never got to see a Vulcan fly before now. It has been an expensive venture, but an amazing one too.

The skies will be a little quieter and a little sadder the day she is grounded.

A civilian airport is no place to keep her, such a shame she couldn’t go to Elvington or Brunty 🙁

As above. The BBMF should be extremely proud that the aircraft was saved, a testament to the abilities and training of all the crew/s involved.

Sorry John, you are in La-La Land.

UKIP is a busted flush, the leader has shown himself incapable of standing by what he said for longer than two days, their policies (such as they were) are in tatters and post referendum will have nothing to offer but a refuge for racists and xenophobes that is marginally more acceptable to the clear-thinking than the BNP and EDL.

The SNP don’t seem to have suffered from the defeat during their referendum.

My guess is that even after minor renegotiation the British public will vote by a margin to remain with something like 40% for staying, 30% for leaving, and 30% who can’t be arsed to get off their sofa.

It’s too early to tell, but listening to Barosso on the radio the other day made it all too clear that we have no future in the EU. He specifically said that they would negotiate on anything, so long as it didn’t interfere with ever further european integration. I don’t believe that England wants that at all.

I realise that factual accuracy forms no part of the UKIP credo, but as you very well know the proposal is to accept legitimately and share out some thousand of ‘the millions presently flocking to Southern Europe‘. I’d be disgusted if my country didn’t take part in this. We have historically provided a refuge for the oppressed and struggling, and our society is richer because of it.

Many of these ‘refugees’ are actually economic migrants from sub Saharan Africa. There is also the small issue of any successful ‘refugees’ may be distributed around the EU, but once settled they can then live wherever they want. As German, Italian, Polish etc aren’t common languages in Africa, it stands to reason that two countries will bear the brunt of this influx – the UK and France.

Comments made by many of those who voted SNP, indicate that not all of them want independence.

I also wouldn’t mind betting that “Dave” was also aware that if certain facts about the goings on in Westminster
during the 70-s and 80’s had hit the fan before the election. The Labour party may have well had a landslide victory.

Equally, if Chilcot had been published before the election, the Tories would have had a landslide.

It beggars belief that once again Nu Labour is raiding its ugly head. The legacy of a very dark period in the hitory of the party, and the UK as a whole.

A fighter is a general purpose ‘air to air’ combat aircraft. An interceptor is a specialized aircraft with the primary purpose of reaching its intended target as quickly as possible.

    Sometimes the roles overlap.

It’s the Scots and the referendum issues that get me, if you hold a referendum and lose accept it, what annoys me are the calks for further referendums until you get one that agrees with your point of view…. They’ve had their chance and said no, so that should be.

Which is what the EU did with Ireland. Sickening.

Thankfully no one was hurt, and they got her down safely. Thankfully it doesn’t look too serious, but as is the way of these things they won’t really know until they get the nacelle and surrounding area stripped down.

I’ll be sending the BBMF a donation in light of this, I hope those of you who take as much joy in seeing our Lancaster fly as I do will do the same. 🙂

My grandad joined the RAF in 1940, but failed his entry tests due to being colour blind. Trained at RAF Shawbury as a radio operator on Airspeed Oxfords, and did a couple of missions in Westland Lysanders. Due to a disagreement with his CO, we was sent to India in ’42 where he spent the remainder of the war as a morse operator, finally making it back to the UK in 1946. He’s 93 now and in top health, still drives and has many fascinating stories about his exploits. 🙂
