It makes me wonder why these sites haven’t been reduced to rubble.

I don’t think the term “replica” does her justice, as that is how you would describe a fibreglass shell of a Spitfire or Hurricane, or one of Peter Jacksons Lancasters.

But recreation has a nice ring to it. She was stood outside last weekend (for the night shoot?), but I drove past during the afternoon, and it was certainly an eye catching sight. 🙂

When I was a volunteer there many years ago, I was told by one of the people that built her that they had built her with the intention of running the engines.

    Great News 🙂

Perhaps the local council might look into acquiring a replica to stand in it’s place? As there’s a production line of the things at the moment, it might make sense. 🙂

Used to watch in the days when Quentin Wilson was on and enjoyed it.

Please don’t wish him back onto our screens! 😀

Great project, I wish someone would do a similar one with a flying boat. Kermit Weeks Short Sandringham would be an ideal base. 🙂

Unless there is a major conflict, I doubt UK defence spending will be above 2% of GDP by then. It’s already teetering on the brink of the NATO budget agreement.

It’s sad to see its leaving, but we do already have some lovely airworthy Hurricanes. 🙂

And we have just gained a stunning Emil.

They *could* organise something pretty spectacular, but I doubt they will.

IMO an anniversary should be a celebration of the journey rather than the destination. As such, it wouldn’t be too heavily dependent on current types.

But they could organise a flypast of the palace, with aircraft representing the various eras of the RAF.

Stars could include RE2, SE5A, camel, Hind, Gladiator, Blenheim, Spits, Hurricanes, Lancaster, Dakota, Meteor, Canberra, Hunter, Vulcan, Harrier (c/o US marines 😀 ) Phantom, Tornado, Typhoon, Hawk. Hercules etc

Fantastic. I’m sure they’ll exceed the estimate by a good amount.

And the reaction of some to tar all Muslims with the same brush in the light of such spinelessness and vascillation is unsurprising.

    This is true.

But equally, having browsed the comments sections of various news sites over the last few days, I have found it alarming how many Muslims are trying to pin this on forces unrelated to Islam, including: CIA, French Government, NATO, Chinese, British, EU, Israel, Zionists, Russia, Charlie Hebdo themselves. I am yet to see a single one concede that we have a problem growing in our increasingly isolated inner city Muslim communities.

Muslims shouldn’t be blamed, and they have nothing to apologize for. But they must do more to help tackle this problem.

    A sustainable business plan for a chapel/memorial?

    Welcome to Britain.
