For anyone not out celebrating, here’s a free to play Spitfire ‘simulator’. Just click on ‘RUN’ on the bottom right.

As with most religious ideas, it’s ludicrous. But, if it eases a few people short passage in this world, and doesn’t harm others, then fair play to them. 🙂

Wing Commander – Full Lightning cockpits were utilised/ruined depending on your viewpoint.

Back to Star Wars, I suspect that the Millenium Falcons cockpit was heavily influenced the B-29.

We can’t do that David, we have a moveable cultural heritage law down here that requires us to hold two examples of such things with significance

Oh, how I dearly wish that we (the UK) had such a law back in 1945.

I can’t imagine for a second that the airframe is under any threat. Worse case scenario would be a move.

PM631 with her invasion stripes returned, and Sally B in Coastal Command colours.

Oh, and one of the rare ‘Malcom hood’ P-51s in America painted as an RAF Mustang III.

Do they really travel overland from China?

Seems a bit perverse when they could just take a direct flight.

    Moggy

Flights to some of the countries these guys are coming from are VERY expensive, why should we have to pay to fly them home?

The EU are happy to interfere with other issues of national security, why aren’t they wading into this one? Probably because they’re too busy trying to source drones, so they can fight wars on our behalf.

The simple fact of the matter is that while all 3 Euro canards are Cold War relics, Rafale and Typhoon aren’t that well suited to the world today. The Swedes, by luck or genius, decided on a more basic design at a reduced cost, and the result is a great multi role platform that is affordable.

Rafale and Typhoon are simply too expensive for many countries, and the performance gains are hard to justify.
