Is this type of occurrence widespread?
What type? People being taken ill or dying, equipment not being available, or airlines being as uncaring as FR were after the event?
Has anyone details of what has to be carried ?
Believe it or not at one time the only thing airlines were required to carry onboard was pain relief, so a packet of paracetamol would do it. I don’t know to what extent that has changed or what is required now.
What is carried varies from airline to airline, some have a very basic kit of the sort of things you would have at home, while others are far better equipped. At BA (and I understand also at VS) the first aid kits and equipment would put some doctors surgeries in the shade. Controlled drugs, defibrillators, direct links to medical assistance services, etc., etc.

What was the BA RJ100 operating?

I’m very intrigued as to what this photograph is of.

I like it, it reminds me of the second VS livery which I much preferred to the current one.

The airline is also looking at aquiring slots for a IOM – Heathrow service.
Good luck to them but I can’t see that ever happening.

Ren, very much depends on where you will be departing from. The current restrictions apply to what you can take through security rather than what you can take onboard, and have been set by the DfT not the operators. So if you will be passing through security at an airport under DfT regulation (which is very likely) then the restrictions will still apply.
Easty, for the latest information look at http://www.dft.gov.uk and click on Airline Security.

You do know about Islanders/Trislanders don’t you…? See this about the new version coming out – no idea where it originated from, but it was posted on PPRuNe:
The last time I saw that it was written about the BAe ATP. The similarities between the two seem endless.

Maybe the problem started when we stopped caring about our fellows in the industry?
On the contrary, I and the likes of Skymonster and Wysiwyg are very concerned about our “fellows in the industry”, both inside and outside of Ryanair, who are affected by the the likes of M.O’L and his complete lack of regard for them or the industry they choose to work in.

2. Are cabin crew needed on such a small aircraft?
I wish! Put me down for a conversion course.

So you are quite happy to see loads of people, with families and youngsters with dreams, all unemployed? You obviously haven’t experienced this yourself.
Having experienced this myself, I think your comments are a disgrace.
I’ve been made redundant three times, twice by airlines going under, and for what it’s worth I agree with every word of Skymonsters last post.

the food at the Pub YUKKKKKKK
You’re not wrong Paul. Deep fried something and chips all round.
I met FlyMonarch there for some lunch a while back (my first visit after taxiing past it hundreds of times) and what a dump it is! A real disappointment and a waste of an opportunity to run a really great enthusiasts pub.
Good photos by the way.

there shouldnt be any reason
Except for the fact that we are talking about Heathrow where nothing happens quickly!

Your figure of 174 has always been my understanding for the -400. I used to work on charter configured -400’s with 170 seats and have no idea where the extra 4 seats would go far less another 18. I’m sure 188 can’t be right.

Hmm, isn’t it interesting that…
…John Toshack told the BBC “I wasn’t really aware of what was happening” yet their journalist Aled ap Dafydd said “after the object hit the windscreen, all the passengers went silent”. And that the journalist’s “object [that] hit the windscreen” was described by an FAW spokesman as “There was a malfunction with the heater that stops the windscreen from icing up”.
You have to love the British press!

in the distance can be seen the London skyline. Visible is the ‘Gherkin’, ‘Tower 42’, the London Eye, very possibly Big Ben (would be around the Eye), and just poking out of the bmi hangar, Canary Wharf and the Docklands. Thats a good 20 miles from the airport.
I’ve never seen that from LHR and I work there. I presume it’s because I never see the view from the top of a car park. Interesting shot.
