It will be doing the shuttle within two years, mark my words!!!

I would until recently have agreed with you, in fact I think I said so on this very forum, but I have to eat my words as it is selling like hotcakes at the moment, there are no seats available for weeks after the start.

The longer term will depend on whether they like it enough to keep coming back to City or prefer to go back to a Boeing out of T5.

Increased frequency and two new City longhaul routes are already being looked at.

I generally try to not to comment on the usual ‘has FR been good for UK & I aviation or not’ debate but for once I have to say fantastic post Andy. Agree with EVERY word.

Am I right in thinking that G-FLBD & E are going on wetlease, but F, G & H are tranferring to Pantheon (the restructured Olympic) as G-PTHA, B & C?

they will soon find themselves with no UK airports at this rate

They could be headed that way. I suppose the problem is that in the current climate the airports need every penny they can get, meanwhile FR need to pay the airports next to nothing to suit their business model.

I imagine LS, BE and EZY at MAN are rubbing their hands in glee.

When the direct service operated to Manchester it was a Barrow – Manchester service.

    Who operated that?

Some great photos there, especially like the SA 346.

The second BA 757 is the one that was evacuated in BCN the following weekend.

It probably isn’t going to affect Jet2 as much as some people think.

I think you are right Paul.

I will still choose to fly Jet2 over Ryanair and I am sure a lot of others will agree!

I guess it depends whether the LBA market is loyal to it’s local airline, or to the cheaper of the two on the day they book.

This was discussed internally at BA some time ago when the Virgin Blue/Delta application was first made.

Willie Walsh is far from my favourite person but I do think he has a point on this one.

I wonder how beardy wants to sweettalk himself out of this one.

    Oh he’ll have an answer!

Bring down the price of rail travel and then people will use it!

Agreed. I recently thought about getting the train (for a change) from London to Glasgow. Admittedly it was at short notice but the train was coming in at just over £200 return. I flew for £59!

Only 18 are in use now. Not sure of the exact timing but I believe they will be gone by 2012.

Thus, it is largely down to the stupidity of those buying the tickets and getting onto the wrong trains

If these people are British then I would agree with you. If however they are not I would say it’s not unreasonable for them to be confused by our privatised train and bus systems.

I use public transport around Europe regularly and always have to be careful to understand how things work, especially in countries where I don’t speak the language.
