Then what’s the point in leasing an aircraft when it holds nearly the same as the 737? I can’t understand it
Hhmmm. Let me think. To get another aircraft maybe?
Usually if an aircraft is needed short term or at short notice.

Between you I think you are just about there. The first one is a Dan Air 727-200, the second one is an Air Europe 737-300.

Ryanair take short turnrounds to the next level.

The aircraft in this one is dead easy, but what’s the airline?
1L.
This one is easier. Same airline but what’s the aircraft?

I though 1-11 Dan Air straight away – but who’ll believe me now…
I believe you. Honest!

BAE146 😮 I hear these planes aint too nice to go on
I don’t mind the 146, it’s just a little unusual I suppose.
It is very quiet outside, but some argue that’s because they pipe the noise into the cabin. There are some very strange noises when the flaps are moving, I guess due to the airflow down the outside of the fuselage changing.
The overhead locker space is fairly limited especially under the wing. The six across config is a little tight, but not unusual though, at least here in the UK. I’ve travelled on 146/RJ100 of Air UK, Dan Air, Loganair, Manx, Jersey European/British European/FlyBe and Cityflyer/British Airways/CitiExpress and they all had 6 across.

Dan Air?
Dan Air London
Spot on. Did you know or just guess from the 1-11?
1L.
Tis a good ol 1-11 I’m sure of it.
It is indeed.
I would say the airline is BA. The colours look like those used during the Landor period. Though I’m not too sure.
Not BA. The Landor interior for BA was Navy fabric with red pindots on the seats and grey carpet with red and navy pindots.
Anyone else?

I’m not so sure that BOH is a major Channel Islands route. It has come and gone many times over the years which suggests it isn’t a good route.
Nothing on the Blue Islands (Rockhopper) website about this, but then it is VERY seldom updated. Nothing on the BOH, GCI or JER websites either. Where did this story come from?

Did Caledonian not go to JMC then Thomas cook.
British Caledonian Airways, whose DC10’s are in these photos, merged into British Airways.
British Airways then used the name Caledonian Airways on it’s charter division. In due course this was sold, and yes, eventually it did become part of JMC.

ps Greekdude: I can see how you might think these old pics of LGW could be parts of present day MAN.
Air UK Leisure did not become Airtours
Intereuropean did not become Airtours either
Airtours started off as Airtours and became MyTravel.
LGKR’s explanation regarding these 2 is exactly right on both counts.
1L.
MAN doesn’t look like it’s changed much. Nice photos. Love that Air Florida DC10.
Those were taken at LGW greekdude, and it’s changed a great deal since then.

Isn’t free seating meant to save time at check-in rather than during boarding?
1L.
Looks like some of the pylons have some sort of air intake, whilst the others don’t.
Just a guess though.
