Of course you could commission one from one of the wonderful artists residing here (hint hint), the wife might like to get involved so she gets one that is acceptable to you both.PaulC
Exactly what I was going to say when I saw the thread title…. ho ho… hint, hint, etc….
…………..In refererance tot he F-86 that was part of the Saber Team quite right to have it painted up as that because of its Historical background but sitting right next to it is a F-84 now is this plane a straight wing or swept wing bird. The reason I ask is if its a Straight Wing then I would redone the paint as what it had when it was part of the USAF…………
.
Swept wing. F84F. Part of the deal to acquire the beasties was to leave either the F84 or the F86 in Greek markings (they came from the same source). We chose to leave the F84…. wonder why?..lol
RAF Leeming was used for an early 90’s pilot (sic) of a series which had good potential. I think it was called ‘Strike Force’ or some other inspiring title  There were three memorable things about it –
1: good air to air shots of Tonkas
2: They chucked a Triumph TR6 off the cliffs near thirsk
3: The ejection seat which went off as the closing scene. I had no idea that a bullet in the parachute box / headrest would trigger a seat firing…..
anyone know what the covering is on the glass?
She looks good…. maybe I won’t be buying the cockpit section after all….
I’d love something eastern Block, but I think the postage and packing might be a touch expensive…..
hat said, if anyone has anything russian-esque in the UK…..:D
And I thought you were realy old and clever ! But you are realy young and clever !
young (feeling old) and irritating would be closer to the mark…..
The real issue is: Was the mannequin modelled on Charley Brown?….. Sorry CB….:D
30 years of ME!!!!!! 😮 😮
So the death of my 2nd Cousin is a mere “by the way”, ……………….I THINK NOT……………………………………
Sarcasm is spelt…. S… A….R….
All of the above are mere ‘by the ways’ compared to the ultimate anniversary in 2008!
21 January 1983 to 21 january 2008…. 25 years of Vulcan XL319 at Sunderland….:D
Its always the same… you wait ages for an update and then two come at once.
At Jeeps and jets last year, we held a competition / raffle for which the prize was a flight in a Jet Provost!
With thanks to Karl Edmondson and Steve D, who organised everything,( and the Newcastle Jet Provost Company, we have a winner. Mr Quintin Smith took his prize yesterday. He has allowed us access to his photographs of the day, which can be found here!

The aircraft was XM479, a JP T3A.
Well done Quintin…. I’m green with envy

What happened to the rest of XS180, the usual UK serials site doesn’t give any clues ?
Paul
XS186 CREW
Macaws… told you I needed to check. Thanks Albert….:o
As far as I am aware, the rest of XS180 was killed off at St Athan. I hope someone else knows for sure.
I know – I shouldn’t be so flippant….:D
We have alot of stuff which will finally be catalogued, and if we have no use for it, will be used as exchange material, etc. Rest assured there will be disposals this year.
First update of the year! Happy 2008!
Well… when I say update….
We are to feature in a young man’s Modern History University dissitation – finally I have been able to justify having the F100 and F84….:D Thank you to Paul and Grace for coming to see us – I hope we were of use. (good luck at Durham Uni!)
Late last year we enjoyed a fair bit of publicity from the local media. The BBC paid us several visits focussing on the ‘Ghost Haunted’ side of the museum as well as the aircraft themselves. The results of these visits can be found here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wear/content/image_galleries/northeast_aircraft_museum_gallery.shtml
I’d like to thank the BBC for showing an interest in us! The images are as up to date as you are going to get for a while, and are somewhat better than my poor photographs, so have a look and enjoy. Comments, suggestions, etc are as welcome as ever.:D
This year will be the turning pooint for our small museum. Watch this space! We have our grubby little fingers in several juicy pies….
We are in the process of :
Creating new exhibits
Turning the museum into a visitor and disabled friendly environment
Making better use of the space we have
Expanding the site! (or developing the bit of land we have)
Getting rid of the crap we have in store… are spitfire canopies crap?…..;) Nothing will be thrown out by the way….
Applying for grants
Burning our Northern Rock shares….
Happy new year from NEAM

XS180’s port wing survives… but little else. She was in a display team at some point (Swords?… I’ll have to check my history of her next week.)
