Well Moggy do not trash Mr Farage’s excuse out of hand. I tend to slow down and look very carefully when overtaking an Eastern European artic on all roads because I find the standard of their driving falls below what I consider acceptable for the size of the vehicle the fact it is a left hooker and many seem to be in a poorer state of repair than their British counterparts.(not that they are a paragon of virtue either) Still if Mr Osborne doubles the price of fuel and road tax to reduce the deficit you might get your fine Motorway back. The Greens? can I have the back seat on your tandem?

Try the attendance allowance or carers allowance I can’t remember which now it is 32 pages long. I am not stupid but I had help from the CAB filing that one in. How many people do not bother because of age, infirmity or lack of assistance I wonder.
I understand that a majority of claims for YOUR entitlement are refused just to see who comes back. That little nugget was told to me by the CAB.
I had to fight to get the above allowances despite documentary evidence from my Doctor and an Orthopaedic Specialist.
Still if I wan’t surgery on my back its a five year wait(despite them losing my notes and scans for three years) and I also need two new knee replacements and the catch is that they will pay to have them done privately on the NHS to the tune of £20,000 plus but not until my back is done. If I was a suspicious man I would think that as I am coming up to 70 I might die before they have to shell out for this. The couple of hundred pounds a week they pay my wife and I(she also needs a knee replacement) is a better option. Still a Government department would not think like that……….would they?

In the new age of “education, education, education” remember that being spouted by Blair we have vast numbers of children attending University. I have come across many examples on various forums that are unable to spell or concoct a sentence that makes sense. They leave with a degree and a large debt and wonder why they can’t find employment to match their expectations.

You can pick holes in my English if you like also my spelling(I never use a spell check so I may get some words wrong).

In my defence I left a comprehensive school at sixteen with one GCE in art. I made my way in life by presenting well and working hard no mater how lowly my position. In hindsight if I had worked harder at school maybe I might have done better but I noticed that during my career I held senior positions to grammar school boys and graduates.

Don’t write all comprehensive school children of as some sort of underclass many will surprise you Lord Sugar for one.

victor tango. I can answer that. In Bristol we have various community aid groups for various groups Like Somali Community aid and others for Pakistani’s and so on. These organisations are funded by Bristol City Council so that they can get their entitlements housing and services, in extreme cases even sue the Council that provides the funding. The people that work in these centres are extremely switched on. How do I know? Up to four years ago I used to sell photocopiers and had some of these organisations as my customers.

Do we have a community aid group or is it just for immigrants do you think?

Don’t be silly of course not we are just the mugs who pay for it!

M&S, which has charged for the last 5 years has seen huge decline.

Pretty obvious really it is in line with their falling clothes sales. About time the penny dropped and they stuck to food instead of second rate fashion

    Come to Scotland!

What and get a free chip on my shoulder? Bad enough in Bristol when a Lady was screaming at a cashier for being charged 10p in B&Q for one for £3.00 of screws that would fit in her handbag!

Bruce are you on Metformin and Simvastatin? Last night on the BBC News another ill informed piece about statins. Yes taking them to correct a bad diet is wrong.eat healthy. No mention though about diabetics who actually need them. I hope those that rely on them to actually stay alive do not give them up.

Paul – well if you will buy bananas in filling stations!!!;)

I don’t but I see people who do, first they chuck the packaging on the ground then the skin comes out of the car window!

My Wife suffers from type 2 diabetes. She is not overweight it is age related but she does have a sweet tooth. Can you imagine all the advertising that is thrust at her at this time of year knowing that about 99% is something she is not allowed to eat. I follow her diet as well as it would not be very nice to tuck into Christmas pudding with brandy butter and cream in front of her. Those fat munters out there that are taken in by this then seem to expect as a right a gastric band or similar on the NHS because they are weak willed gluttons. To me they are no better than those who end up in hospital because of smoking ,drinking or drugs. I would let them die unless they change their ways and reduce the burden on the NHS. I feel that advertising has a lot to answer for and much tighter regulation on things such as suger, salt and fats in ready made products should be introduced. If they want this sort of food let them make it or charge them through their piggy nose to buy it in taxation.

As for packaging it is now at ridiculous levels. One banana in a plastic container and then placed in a bag at the till in a filling station £1,00. Hello folks it has a ready made container it is called a skin!

Not wishing to minimise the loss of these innocents as it is shocking but perhaps Pakistan will now stop giving safe haven to the Taliban and see them for what they really are.Man up and stamp them out. There are two kinds of Muslim in my book, those who are peace loving people and those who hide behind the clock of Islam to commit acts of appalling violence with their twisted views. The former must make hard decisions now to wipe the terrorists out and not count the cost otherwise inaction will be seen as cowardliness and acquiescence by the rest of the world.

Geoff, Perhaps every forum was a little over the top. Still if most were deleted and a quiet word from a mod by PM would have sufficed. An official warning I feel was a little OTT. Still you got your message out!

Jim,Once you cut through all this commercialism crap Christmas is one friggin day. A lot of people are lonely, argue with the family, spend to much on stuff they have had to buy and is probably wrong anyway. Get in your car and get out into the country and enjoy the scenery. I have been their and done that it clears your head of all outside pressures. If you have six foot of snow my suggestion will be a non starter.
