    You could also go for a tandem parachute jump for about £150 so you get your flight and an experience you will never forget! An added bonus could be doing it for charity. People seem to think hurling yourself out of perfectly servicable aircraft is dangerous. Well I am still here!

    Who’s that at the back that said “More’s the pity!”

    PeeDee, you must live in America to only shave .4 of a sec of my 0-60 time with an extra 87BHP and not moan about the price of fuel. I bet your torque is rather good though.

    Come on what is it you drive?

    You must be very lucky for the price of petrol not to bother you at all.
    I used to run the odd gas-guzzler but I’m afraid they had to go.:(

    Not really Arthur, My wife and I are Pensioners living on the state pension and pension credit plus attendance allowance.

    We don’t go on holidays or buy expensive things for the home. We make do and mend as our generation was brought up to do. The petrol for the cars costs about £15 a week and the combined insurance for both cars is just under £500 a year. The cars being Japanese are very reliable(touch wood)and are both getting to be old ladies now in car terms. Its our only indulgence and we have always had cars that stand out from the usual housing estate nondescript rubbish.

    Take the Prelude for instance 200BHP 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds all the toys from airbags to 4 wheel steering. If you wanted to buy one today you would get a nice looking reliable sports car and change from £1,000(ok I bought mine 7 years ago and only gave £3,000 for it then) One MOT fail in all that time for upper ball joints. Not bad for a car with 140,000 miles on the clock

    Tempted yet?:diablo::)

    They were searching for a serviceable prop bearing ISTR, but I think that has been resolved.

    Thats the part I was thinking of! 🙂

    Guys, lets leave the RN out of this. It started as a rejoinder to an intended bait, and lets drop it before the bait serves its purpose of trolling the discussion into an irrelevant sidetrack.

    The RN is not the issue here, besides which the IN & RN both enjoy a decent professional camaraderie.

    Agreed:)

    Leccy cars are for tree hugging lefty Yoghurt Knitters.

    I have two fast cars that gobble up petrol one is a Honda Prelude 2.2VTEC and the other is a Subaru Impreza. I may now only drive 50 odd miles a week but I don’t hang about getting where I am going. I pay the price for this but who cares I maybe getting on a bit but I have not slowed down.

    BTW I am a Moderator on PUK(PreludeUK) although it has a worldwide membership and if any member here has a Honda Prelude or any car with a VTEC engine please come and join us.
    You will also see how a large bunch of mainly 20-35 year olds behave.

    Jim I doubt you would overstep the mark here. Our members are told to leave their handbags at the door:D

    Nothing is “Royal” about a navy which cannot even maintain a squadron of fast jets for a start.

    No fast jets I agree but it does have Submarines that can make a gawd almighty bang in Countries that upset us!:)

    As opposed to the “royal” navies of other countries? I believe other nations, Swedan, Thialand to name two, use the term.
    Or had the MOD trademarked “Royal”? 😀

    Not trademarked but I think you will find that most if not all will say Royal…….. Navy such as

    * Royal Australian Navy
    * Royal Bahraini Navy
    * Royal Brunei Navy
    * Royal Danish Navy
    * Royal Malaysian Navy
    * Royal Moroccan Navy
    * Royal Naval Force of Jordan
    * Royal Navy of Oman
    * Royal Netherlands Navy
    * Royal New Zealand Navy
    * Royal Norwegian Navy
    * Royal Saudi Navy
    * Royal Swedish Navy
    * Royal Thai Navy

    BTW there even was a Royal Scots Navy, merged into the Royal Navy in 1707

    🙂
