Er….yea. looking at this from a laymans point of view (best qualification I have is a PPL….fixed undercarriage), did Mr Supermarine ever come up with an undercarriage release system which was not an ‘accident waiting to happen’ ? How many pilots / aircraft were lost during the war due to the release mechanism locking up. ?

Ey up Pete, going way back when I was lad, it was rumoured that written-off aircraft were simply dumped in a pit and buried, my mates dad used to drive us up there to have a poke around……..I suspect however, that this sort of rumour applied to every air base in the country and is part of every schoolboys imagination.

Ey up Pete, lots of very laudible replies and discussion but who is reading it all, certaintainly not the morons who carry out the vandalism, theft etc.

Time for a man of action like you to set up the ‘Kick Ass’ party and get some votes cos the current batch, incumbant or in waiting, aint gonna do owt about it for fear of being labelled non-pc or racist……and it’s no doubt an infringement of human rights to ‘bang em up’ and throw away the key.
