You mean the older blocks of J-7E may not have the MFD. But newer blocks might have. The J-7EB used with the August 1 team had an MFD on the same spot in the picture, and it can be representative of newer build J-7Es.

Anway specs seem to match MPQ-53 170 km max detection range (around < 90 km against fighter sized aircrafts). As for radar itself i dont see anything embedded in kvant’s radar that can provide the missiles with guidance and illumination like the MPQ-53?
It is probable that China bought the system to learn from it. Sometimes they learn enough of a product without even buying it, just by obtaining enough information pretending to seriously buy it.
The Chinese already has an MPQ-153 look alike, called the HT-233, a phased array radar used to search and guide for the HQ-9 SAM. It’s likely to have learned from Patriot technology which the MPQ-53 is used on, and combined that with whatever China learned from the S-300 radar systems. Since the SAMs on the 052C is alleged to be a naval variant of the HQ-9, it stands that this system should be the core of the radar system of the 052C. Given that the radar system is rumored to be active phase array, the Chinese system probably combined whatever they learned from the kvant radar and combined that to the HT-233 system, which is learned from the MPQ-53.
China may have also bought RIF-M but instead of deploying them, they were probably studied heavily instead, and again, lessons from that study may have also been applied to the radar system on the 052C and the upcoming 051C, combining the lessons from the kvant, HT-233 and the MPQ-53.
Zhuk radar’s 300 km range is against destroyer/sovremenny sized targets. As for Z-9 dont have any data on the radar but doubt its any capable. as for Ka-28 its radar has a decent detection range: around 60 km. The kamov is offering sea dragon to replace the radar on it, IN reportedly was deciding between that and an indigenous option fyi. Anyway all those platforms apart from ka-28 and maybe z-9 dont have capability to transmit the data to the surface vessels.
As for YJ-83/Moskit light bulk datalink its not anything new otomat mk 2 features such a datalink, it looks simple on paper but rather complicated to implement it in reality. Requires an airborne platform to be constantly detect the hostile vessel while the missile is on flight, making those platforms quite venerable to ship launched SAM (russians had dozens of ka-25/28s to throw at an enemy fleet same cannot be said about PLAN which operates less than 8). Also the link can be jammed and light bulb itself according to janes can support only missile in flight at a time.
You keep forgeting that it does not have to come from helicopters, but from aircraft, like H-6, JH-7s. and Su-30s. The H-6 themselves have been armed with 200km YJ-6 missiles and has been for a long time. The JH-7s now carry the datalinked YJ-83 and their antenna sizes appear as big to bigger than the Zhuks, not to mention their ability to carry surveillance pods. The new version H-6s appear armed with either the YJ-83 or a new ASM, probably the YJ-63. This is not to mention that the J-8IIs are more than capable of carrying Zhuk sized radars.
This is not to mention that the Chinese plan to bring in their own AWACS and survelliance platforms, and we have seen prototypes of the new AWACS, the Y-8 Balance beam AWACS and the new Y-8 surveillance plane.
YJ-83s are likely to be carried on the new FACs, and it is clear from the lack of any large radar on the FACs, that the missiles get their control from somewhere else. The PLAN won’t deploy such missile ships unless they have the guidance infrastructure.
I think the cockpit belongs to that of a late model J-7, either a late block J-7E or J-7G.

My comment is based as the Eastern economies combined—not just China, but with South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia all taken as a whole into one trading bloc. When you compare all that, you will see the Asian region accumulating the largest trade balances to their favor, the largest trade surpluses, holding the largest foreign reserves, the largest savings rate, the largest bond holders, etc,.

In this case, I would agree with Hui Tong’s conclusion. Also the numbers under the canopy don’t seem not photoshopped. Are you aware that their SU-27SKs aren’t equipped to use the missile? Only the -MKKs and -MK2s can use the R-77.
This may no longer be true. Jane’s reported that a number (up to 100) Su-27s and J-11s may have been upgraded to firing the R-77. The radar is shipped back to Russia where they are upgraded and sent back. The upgrade does not give the planes precision ground attack capability as the full Su-27SM package. The result is fairly like the Su-30MKK’s radar but without the air to ground missile support.
The Su-27UBKs delivered from 2000-2002 had the equipment from the beginning.
All this is just a stopgap for the Chinese to put their own radars on the J-11s so they could use the PL-12. The observation that you cannot integrate the PL-12 to a Russian radar, despite allegedly the missile uses a Russian datalink and guidance, throws that connection into seriously great doubt, considering the immense logistical and tactical advantages of having your R-77 enabled planes directly compatible with the PL-12.
You make it sound like everything is dependent on the Y-8s. It’s not. You can do OTH by bouncing radar off the ionosphere, or recieving likewise signals from an enemy ship doing the same thing. Y-8s are not the only spotters. Helicopters like the Z-9 and the Ka-28 can do it. Planes like the Su-30MK2, JH-7A, and even the J-8D might even be able to do it. A 700mm radar with sea search capability like a Zhuk—the kind that can fit inside a J-8II—can detect a destroyer sized target as far as 300km away.
The YJ-83 ASMs used standard in Chinese ships nowadays is confirmed to have datalinks on them, so they are getting their updates from somewhere, somehow.

The recent posters of KLJ-6F and KLJ-7 throws a wrench on everything. My suspicion is KLJ-6F is for the FC-1 or possibly F-7MF while the KLJ-7 may have supplanted KLJ-3 for the J-10’s radar, or J-8F. Also you don’t put posters up unless you see the possibility for exporting the products.

ive seen digital artwork online showing the J10 with missiles under the fuselage like Typhoon has but in photos only underwing weapons. can J10 carry 4 under fuselage missiles and a tank too? with under fuealage missiles the weapon load would be bigger than Grypens underwing ones.
We have to wait and see if this is possible.
what is the weight of J-10 and degree of composite used is not reliably known. I have heard astounding figures like 8000kg empty upto 11000kg empty. different sites quote diff figures on its payload also.
since the engine is known, the “real” empty and takeoff weights determine its performance and range.
when will we know?
If you’re a believer of the Lavi theory of the J-10, which you profess you are, you better work from an empty weight of 7000kg which is where the Lavi starts.
But if you’re not, expect something a bit more heavier, perhaps more like an F-16C with the GE engine.
