Amazing shots – thank you for sharing them.
Great Report and pictures. I am heading over on Aer Lingus from LHR the week after next and looking forward to a drop of the auld Liffey water.
Many thanks to all for the detailed replies. I was looking at the book in the library again today – it is “The New Pearl Harbor” by David Ray Griffin – “an eminent theologian”. It poses the question “Why were no fighters scrambled from McGuire AFB?” the answers of which are here. I have no problem with a conspiracy theory provided it is backed up with pertinent facts but it would appear that Mr. Griffin should have done a bit more research rather than just pinpoint the nearest AFB.
A Bay City Rollers Shirt from my mother – I couldn’t stand them.

I would also like to add my congrats to all concerned. It puts me to shame sometimes when I see the effort that others put in to preserve our heritage.
I would also mention that I flew on this beauty from Edinburgh to LHR in the summer of ’72 I think. I was only logging the registrations of the aircraft I flew on then but not the dates unfortunately. I also flew on WZD (twice), WZA,WZR,WZW,WZX and WYZ.
Lovely.
Thanks for sharing these wonderful old shots. It’s always a pleasure viewing aviation photos from times gone by!

Many thanks Paul. I really wish I had taken more but I was after registrations rather than pictures at the time unfortunately.

Many thanks for your kind comments Jamie. I suppose 30 years from now the younger members of the forum will be posting pics of 747-400 and A-330/340s etc as Golden Oldies. Time passes too quickly :p
I was speaking to a hard core heroin user tonight – “a friend of a friend” and he tells me that the idea is to probably deduct the tenner from their giros which means it has to be spent on food/clothes etc

Again a former USSR airbase with lots (115+) of wfu MiG-23 Floggers and a few other types (MiG-21, MiG-25) as well.
What a waist of money………
If you go along to the left to Turkmenbashi, there appears to be another military base with Antonovs??
70 deg right-hand turn at what was it it? 700 or 900ft?
Bum-clenching 🙂
I am not sure – all I know is when I was landing in the Virgin A340 is that it seemed awfully low!!:D
Seeing as they are of wider historical interest, these images are fine where they are. 🙂

Many thanks Grey Area – I will make sure I post in the right section next time.
Superb shots there – the snow certainly adds to the scene.
