RE: Spitfire Mk.9e TE566
I did find some pictures of the wreckage of TE566.
I am not going to post a link because of the sensitive nature of this, but if you use Google and search for TE566 there is a website showing aircraft wrecks.
I do not agree with the rebuild of aircraft that have taken a life, but some people still believe that the aircraft should fly again. Fair enough, everyone has their own views on this matter, but after looking at these photos, yes, it could be rebuilt, but I do not believe it is the correct thing to do.
As I said, this is my opinion on the matter

RE: Spitfire LF Mk.16e RW386
RW386 was at Historic Flying in the mid 90’s I believe and it was painted in it’s 604 squadron markings of NG-D (similar to those of RW382)
It was crated up with the rest of the late Doug Arnold’s collection and I guess it still sits in a crate somewhere, probably at Northweald.

RE: Spitfire Mk.9e TE566
It crashed and killed its owner/pilot earlier this year in South Africa.
“Mike Snoyman, the owner of Spitfire MkIX TE566 recently purchased from Andrew Torr, was tragically killed when the aircraft crashed at Wonderboom airport, north of Pretoria in Gauteng, on 25 April 2002. Initial reports suggest engine failure may have been the cause, this site will be updated as more information becomes available. News visuals suggest the aircraft is a complete write-off. Our sympathies go out to his wife and daughter.”

RE: Dark Blue World
I’ve just found this on the TFC website
[http://www.fighter-collection.com/film/]
so it does appear that there was a Mk V used in filming.
I’ll let the commentators off of that one then 🙂
RE: Dark Blue World
The 4 Spitfires you refer to in early markings a few years ago were the Spitfires used in Pearl Habour. HAC’s Mk V, TFC’s Mk V, the Shuttleworth Mk V and Rob Lamplough’s Mk VIII.
The Spitfires used in Dark Blue World were painted in Battle of Britain film schemes so they would easily match the old film footage.

RE: Duxford, May 5th
Did anyone else notice how bad the commentary was? Who were the guys doing it. Duxford… Please DO NOT book them again…
They were making soooooooooooooooooo many mistakes.
Here are a few
Caroline Grace’s aircraft was used in Deep Blue World????? Was it. I thought it was OFMC’s Mk IX and Rob Lamplough’s Mk VIII.
Only Spitfire Mk V’s were used in the filming??? See above point
The Blenheim has Bristol Pegasus engines….
The Blenheim was rebuilt by the Blenheim society
The Shuttleworth Avro 504 landed after its display to get some “go-go juice” before heading back to Old Walden.
The pilots who flew today all did a very good job considering the cross wind that was blowing a gale.
It’s a shame the BBMF could not leave their base due to cross wind limits.
The Breitling Fighters were worth the wait though…..
To sum up….. Not the best Duxford show and the worst commentators I have ever had the miss pleasure of listening to.
Philip.
RE: Spit TE566 crashes in South Africa
She was a good aeroplane and she will be missed
Goodbye TE566
My thoughts are with the pilot’s family
RE: Queen mother funeral flypast
Read the message properly…. The SEAC roundels have been replaced by RAF standard roundels….
RE: Queen mother funeral flypast
PM631 was overhauled over the Winter period and repainted.
I believe it is still PR Blue but now with invasion stripes.

RE: Don’t let him fly it Charlie !!!!!!!!!!!!
That is definitely Howard Cook…. There is too much hair for Charlie and no handlebar moustache that is visible 🙂
Martin Shaw and his wife were at Rougham last year. That is why I thought it may be there…..

RE: Don’t let him fly it Charlie !!!!!!!!!!!!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-02-02 AT 10:49Â PM (GMT)]Is that a challenge????
I believe the woman is Vicky Kimm, Martin Shaw’s wife……. As for her phone number, all I could find was a contact number for Martin’s agent. I guess that does not qualify me for the extra 10 points…..
I’m also guessing that the photo was taken at Rougham.

Philip
RE: Duxford yesterday (Sunday 24th)
It was Clive Denney flying the Harvard. It is the ex Norman Lees aircraft. It wears the RAF camouflage and KT on the side.
I believe the Nimrod was due to fly, but the weather prevented that flight from happening.

RE: Don’t let him fly it Charlie !!!!!!!!!!!!
That is not Charlie Brown on the wing….. It is Howard Cook.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-02-02 AT 04:09Â PM (GMT)]They are Lockheed Constellations in the very background and I think the one in the foreground is an Airspeed Ambassador.

RE: A-26 Invader
>Lovely, I’ll never forget the sight of the 2 together at
>last years legends.
You would not of seen this at Legends last year….
This Invader (Double Trouble) is the one that crashed at Biggen Hill in 1980 (I think) killing all on board. It was owned by Ted White and Don Bullock. Bullock was flying it at the time of the crash.
