    according to this article
    http://www.meretmarine.com/article.cfm?id=116658

    the LSD FOUDRE is finishing a great repair and maintenance program although she is expected to decommision next year.

    Don’t you find strange that a ship supposed to decomission is being submitted to such a repair? A possible “pre agreement” for a future sale to a foreign navy?

    All of the nations that have disputed sea’s with China have got to be concerned. They need a group stratergy and group naval ops to make sure that they stand a chance.

    China putting out a Aircraft Carrier in the next year for training has got to make you worried. I know that the whole build up of china’s navy is a cause for concern.

    Seems it’s NEXT WEEK

    PNS Alamgir was due to arrive in Karachi may 13th. Has anybody any seen any reports or pics emerge about its arrival (I’ve been able to follow her on the maiden journey to her new home in the media, through Salalah, Oman)

    Searching for pics on google the only one of the complete ship I found was this

    But it’s the same in several sites and seems to be a photoshop (look at the “260”)

    You can see the Gorshkov in the background in the last photo.

    What is the purpose of all those cables wrapped around the ship?

    Britain’s Cameron, France’s Sarkozy sign defence treaties

    British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy signed two landmark defence treaties at a summit in London on Tuesday.

    “Today we open a new chapter,” Cameron told a joint press conference with the French leader at a Foreign Office mansion in central London, adding: “Britain and France are natural partners.”

    Under the deal, the two countries will create a joint military force and share aircraft carriers and nuclear test facilities.

    Ark Royal -> Scrapped
    Illustrious OR Ocean -> Scrapped
    The other one of those two -> Operational
    Invincible -> Operational

    But, it should be noted that the OSD for Ocean is 2018 or thereabout IIRC.

    But Invencible is mouthballed since 2005. Weren’t there news that she would be scrapped in 2010?

    One scrapped and a second carrier or Ocean mothballed.

    so…

    Ark Royal -> Scrap
    Invencible->Scrap?
    Illustrious – > Operational
    Ocean–>Mouthballed/Sold?(Brazil?)

    :confused:

    Scraping of Ark Royal confirmed by David Cameron

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11570593

    He confirmed HMS Ark Royal will be decommissioned four years early and the UK’s Harrier jump jets will be axed. Two new aircraft carriers will be built but one would be placed on “extended readiness”.
