    Very interesting indeed !

I will add to those above mentioned the episode that occured somewhere in 1968 when an Yugoslav F-84 enroute from Montenegro to a shooting ground in Macedonia strayed into the Albanian airspace and was soon intercepted by a trio of F-6- from Rinas airbase and forced to land there. Pilot and plane were subsequently released and retured to the Yugoslavs.

    Lakerdar, SERBMiG,

Is this thread dealing with the Albanian Air Force or with Serb versus Albanian or vice versa pseudopatriotic junk?

In terms of Afghan MiG 17 here are two pics of wrecks. I have the impression that one of those was a PF.

It was not shot down but force landed in the unfinished runway of today’s Tirana airport that was being built at that time mostly by political prisoners. In fact three MiG 15 bis of the AAF were vectored on the T-33 the second time it entered the Albanian airpasce (it entered a first time, went out of it and than entered again in a sort of S flying path). The MiG-s approached it while the T-33 pilot being quite low on fuel was trying to find a suitable landing ground.

The poor Albanian prisoners cheered up while the plane was circling the airfield, assuming the West was finally comming to their rescue. Evidently they were completely mesmerised when the plane landed and the pilot was soon afer surrounded by armed guards and escorted away.

    Hey Flanker man,

Since you will be going to MAKS 2006 keep a lookout for a rebuild MiG- 3 that should be prsented there without its engine that is undergoing a second rebuild. Some pictures would be more then welcommed.

As you say, it is partly a living museum with the old jets you mention still capable of flying but not being used operationally anymore. Some Western helicopters like the AB-206. Ab 205 or the BO-105 make up the new acquisitions.

If you call the F-7 a MiG 21 than yes.

The pic depicts freshly produced J-7M for Iran before their delivery

As for the first two pictures ( MiG 21PFM and MiG 21 UM) they are both ex DDR aircraft earmarked for Iran but not delivered. The third one is a Chinese built F-7 M and those were acquired by IRIAF

I fully agree with Ink. This thread has become more than ridiculous. In some cases it has oppenly incited ethnic hatred and has equally tried to apologise henius crimes commited in the region.

Miroslav’s reaction to the tenth anniversary of the Srebrenica masacer is a blatant example of that line. As for Kapedani he has just shown again his “natural”gift to ruin a thread ( remember the Albanian Air Force thread?). Apparently he belives in a holy bestowed mission to just be a sort of paladin of every Albanian in the region. I wish some other Albanian in this forum could react the way Ink did.

Was I the moderator I was just going to lock this thread up.
