Just for a change, the old jets of the Albanian Air Force
Let’s keep it up like this. More EAF stuff .
something went wrong with the first attempt, sorry.
Here comes one.
Flex mate, as always you are the best.
Dingodog, glad to contribute to the thread my friend.
Since I feel deeply impressed by all EAF picks I am also jumping into the fray 🙂
Tupolev, Tu 134 ULB
In case this was not put here before here it is 🙂
This is an example:
This is one of the Chinese modifications of the J-5 alias MiG 17.
I did some homework and looked through few publications on the MiG 19, in particular the 4+ one.
Apparently, in addition to the already discussed here drag chute container and wing pylon the J-6 has a number of external specific details, typical of the Chinese production such as :
Canons without muzzle brake.
UHF blade antenna on the port nose
Repositioned auxiliary Pitot head
I looked a bit through the net and found this description on Iraqi F-6-s:
The Iraqis obtained some MiG-19S fighters in the early 1960s, but later sold them all off, though the survivors did see some action against the Kurds in the 1970s. In 1983, during the Iran-Iraq War, the Iraqis obtained a batch of F-6s through Egypt, while the Iranians acquired a batch of their own F-6s. Neither side made that much use of them during the conflict, and there are no records of MiG-on-MiG dogfights.
Flex and Arthur,
I do not pretend to be an expert on the Shenyang F-6 but I have the impression that early batch machines produced mostly until the end of the 60′ doesn’t sport the ruder base drag chute while later batch aircraft produced in the early 70′ do have this feature.
The PAF example shown above is probably one of those received during the 60′. The Iraqi examples were apparently put together in Egypt from shipped components, making use of the Egyptian experiencewith the type they acquired for the EAF by the end of the 70′. Thus the logical assumption that Iraqi machines were of a late batch production, similar to those used by the EAF.
I have several more picture to illustrate this but I am afraid this could bring us slightly of topic.
Flex,
Thank you for putting the photo here. It is quite interesting indeed but I have one doubt though if it is a F-6 or a MiG 19 S. My incertitude comes for the fact that I don’t see the cylindric shaped drag chute container at the ruder base which is a typical feature of all Shenyang F-6 produced after the 60′. Maybe we can bring some light into this?
Thanks again for your kindness
LIKA
Flex,
Forgive for my ineptitude but I tried the link you posted and I am unable to find the F-6 photo in question. Any more help on this please ?
