Are you sure that’s the White 1 engine? Those cowlings look kinda familiar…..
Incidentally, and in partial reply to Dave, the 801 is not designed to run uncowled. The pressure cowl is so arranged as to force air back through the oil cooler, which might, in part, explain any slight problems.
That’s an interesting point Bruce. I wasn’t aware of that. Learn something new every day…
I had a quick search on youbend and there doesn’t appear to be any video yet (wishful thinking?!). Would love to hear it in the flesh/metal!
I for one think you’ve done a fantastic job and cannot wait to see her in the flesh. Seeing those pictures remind of the first time I saw the film, an old VHS ‘taped off the telly’ job. Mother had carefully edited out most of the adverts apart from a random hamlet one! I remember gleefully telling dad, ‘they’re not messerschmitts dad, they’re ‘ispanos!’
I wonder now, without the wonderful webbington web how I discovered this those years ago! Surely not reading a book!
Good luck sourcing the parts for number two Roobarb, I’m sure she’ll be a sight to behold once complete, whatever the colour!!!
🙂 Very good!
🙂 Very good!
Very powerful video watch for the audience reaction
Wow. Very powerful, and what amazing talent she has. The speed at which she works astounds me. It certainly hit a nerve with the audience.

I have heard that you must not install into programs as in needs to write config files.Create a games folder.
Yes, of course, this is quite an important point!
For example, this is the path for my installation:
C:/Games/IL2 Modded
Unfortunately, even though Win7 has a Program Files(x86) folder dedicated to 32bit programs, IL2 does not like being installed there!
To all of you IL enthusiasts the more I rad the more I like. So can anyone confirm whether or not it will run on windows 7 64bit? I have been unable to find a clear, definitive answer.
Yes indeed it does.
Running Windows 7 Ultimate here, installed fairly straightforwardly.
The main thing to do is not install from autorun, but explore the disc and run ‘a.exe’. You may or may not need to run it in XP compatibility mode.
If you run into any problems drop me a PM and i’ll try to help!
I’ve played all incarnations of IL-2 since the demo in 2000/1(?). Though more recently my passion has been re-ignighted with the fantasitc MODS that AA develop. I highly recommend U.I. 1.2, for more info visit here http://allaircraftarcade.com/forum/
Hmm, think I might jump in a Spitfire Mk.XIV… :D:D
Spitfire spotted heading south east -ish at approx 4pm in the Headcorn area in Kent. Had cannons and invasion stripes, and sounded Merliny (sic). Would hazard a guess at TA805 spirit of Kent? Anyone else see her?
Spitfire XVIII SM845/G-BUOS left Duxford today after being a growling resident since Summer 2000. It has gone to new owners in Sweden, who already operate Spitfire RW386. This leaves just the TFC MkXIV to fly the flag for Griffon power at Duxford.
I liked 845 a lot… something about that late bubble top, big rudder, huge engine ‘look’ that spoke to me. Hmmm, or was it her giving me a new parting every Legends on the tank bank!:):):D
We do seem to be lacking in the griffon department now, shame.
Unless you bought them on a credit card in which case you are covered and can reclaim the money from them and rebook at Cambridge.
Moggy
It was bought for me using hard earned cash and via a debit card.
My partner is currently talking to Play.com where she bought it from and they are looking into some sort of refund. Her phone call was the first they’d heard of it, wonder how many more vouchers have been sold since the announcement, through websites such as Play?
RIP Sir and thank you.
Wish I had got to meet you.
Gone but never forgotten
Ray.
Cannot believe it’s been 3 years already. :(:(
His departure has left a void never to be filled.
Ray was and still is my Hero.
Rest in Peace Sir.
I don’t post very often these days, but I thought it absolutely necessary in this instance. What a fantastic stepping stone this is for the team involved!
My hearty congratulations and thanks to those who spend countless hours working towards re-instating such an important flying memorial to where she belongs – in the skies above England.
🙂 🙂 🙂
I would happily get up there and polish those markings one weekend, just get me a big ladder and i’m yours. Every little helps and all that 🙂
Well done all so far, it’s lovely to see her where she belongs once more!
